Mumbai city, suburbs and Thane are likely to see heavy rain at isolated places (yellow alert) on Thursday (August 1), according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast report. The IMD has issued a red alert (extremely heavy rain) for central Maharashtra from August 1-3; East Madhya Pradesh on August 1 and 2; Konkan and Goa on August 2 and 3 and Gujarat Region on August 3.
While Palghar is likely to see moderate rain, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in Raigad and Ratnagiri (orange alert) on Thursday. Heavy rain is likely at Sindhudurg, with extremely heavy rain (orange alert) predicted for Pune, Satara and Kolhapur.
A red alert indicates heavy to extremely heavy rain of over 20 cm in 24 hours. An orange alert means very heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm, and a yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm.

The districts of North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to experience thundershowers at isolated places, gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) and moderate rain on Thursday. The districts of Vidarbha are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places.
