Today’s Weather Updates for Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad: August 1, 2024

Mumbai city, suburbs and Thane are likely to see heavy rain at isolated places (yellow alert) on Thursday (August 1), according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast report. The IMD has issued a red alert (extremely heavy rain) for central Maharashtra from August 1-3; East Madhya Pradesh on August 1 and 2; Konkan and Goa on August 2 and 3 and Gujarat Region on August 3.

While Palghar is likely to see moderate rain, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in Raigad and Ratnagiri (orange alert) on Thursday. Heavy rain is likely at Sindhudurg, with extremely heavy rain (orange alert) predicted for Pune, Satara and Kolhapur.

A red alert indicates heavy to extremely heavy rain of over 20 cm in 24 hours. An orange alert means very heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm, and a yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm.

Maharashtra Weather Forecast: Moderate-Heavy Rain Likely

The districts of North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to experience thundershowers at isolated places, gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) and moderate rain on Thursday. The districts of Vidarbha are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places.

The districts of Konkan are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places. The districts of Madhya Maharashtra are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Ghat region.

Delhi Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain Expected

According to SkyMet, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the northern plains, including Punjab, Haryana, UP, and Delhi, over the next 48 hours, improving by August 2.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast: Light rain likely

Light rain is likely in Bengaluru urban and rural areas.

Hyderabad Weather Forecast: Light Rain Likely

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is likely in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Isolated heavy to very rainfall is likely to continue along the west coast for the next five days. Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely over Northwest, Central & East India during the next three-four days.

West and Central India Forecast

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over the region during the next five days.

Orange alert: Very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Konkan and Goa during July 31, August 1 and 4; Madhya Maharashtra on July 31 and August 4; Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh from July 31-August 2; West Madhya Pradesh from August 1-3; East Madhya Pradesh on July 31 and August 3; Saurashtra and Kutch on August 3 and Gujarat Region on August 4.

Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh on July 31 and August 4; Gujarat Region on August 2; Chhattisgarh and Marathwada on August 3; Saurashtra, Kutch, Vidarbha on August 4.

Northwest India forecast

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning are very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand; scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during the next four-five days.

Orange alert: Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Uttarakhand during July 31-August 3; Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh on July 31 and August 1; northeast Rajasthan on July 31.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan from July 31-August 4; Uttar Pradesh on August 2, 3; Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on August 2, northwest Rajasthan and Delhi on July 31 and August 1.

South Peninsular India forecast

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely over coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Kerala and Mahe; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely over interior Karnataka and isolated to scattered rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana and Rayalaseema for the next five days.

Orange alert: Very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe on July 31; Coastal Karnataka on August 1, 2 and South Interior Karnataka from July 31-August 2.

Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka from July 31-August 4; Telangana on July 31; Kerala and Mahe on August 1, 2; Tamil Nadu on August 1 and North Interior Karnataka from July 31-August 2.

East & Northeast India Forecast

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning is very likely over East & Northeast India during the next five days.

Orange alert: Very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram on July 31 and August 1.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from July 31–August 2, Arunachal Pradesh from August 2-4; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from August 1-3.
