Udit Narayan`s first wife claims he removed her uterus without consent

Renowned playback singer Udit Narayan found himself caught up in controversy once again after his first wife, Ranjana Jha, recently approached the Women`s Police Station in Bihar`s Supaul. She has filed a formal complaint against him on Tuesday, accusing him, his two brothers, and his second wife of serious criminal offences. Arriving with her advocate, Karunakant Jha, she submitted an application, alleging that she was subjected to a criminal conspiracy wherein her uterus was removed without her knowledge. She informed that she got to know of this only years later during medical treatment.

Udit Narayan`s ex-wife files a complaint

In her complaint, Ranjana identified herself as the 61-year-old daughter of Chandrakant Jha, residing at Sanskrit Nirmali Ward No. 11 under the Balua Bazar Police Station area in Supaul district. She mentioned that she married Udit Narayan on December 7, 1984, as per Hindu customs and rituals.

“Udit, however, left for Mumbai in 1985 to pursue his singing career. Through media reports, I later came to know that he married Deepa Narayan and since then had been staying with her. A case of marital discord and deception is already going on. Udit, though admitted to his first marriage, never gave the status of his first wife nor supported her financially,” she stated in her complaint dated February 10.

Ranjana claims Udit Narayan got her uterus removed

In her written complaint, Ranjana further claimed, “In 1996, I was taken by Udit, his two brothers and his second wife to a prominent Delhi hospital where, under the guise of my treatment, my uterus was removed without my knowledge or consent. I came to know about it (removal of uterus) recently when I visited a doctor for treatment of a different ailment.”

“When I went to Mumbai two decades ago, I was not allowed to enter his house. Same treatment was meted out to me when I went to my in-laws` house, following which I lodged a police case in 2006. Eventually, Udit then promised to support me financially, but he never kept that promise,” added Ranjana.

Anju Tiwari, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Supaul Mahila Thana, said, “We have received a complaint from Ranjana Jha. We are investigating the matter as the issue is 30 years old. We will proceed further aftera  proper inquiry.”
