Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 has created a lot of buzz ever since it started streaming on Netflix on Thursday, December 25, 2025. Fans across the world have been binge-watching the latestseason. Consequently, all the theories, breakdowns and emotional reactions have been surfacing all over the internet. However, one of the unexpected videos going viral on social media shows Bollywood actor Kajol in a cameo appearance in the series.

The clip was shared by a netizen on X (formerly Twitter), who cheekily captioned it, “Just watched this scene from Stranger Things Volume 2, Kajol ji was surprisingly good (sic).” The video quickly gained traction on the internet, leaving users on the internet momentarily baffled before they realised what it really was.

As soon as the clip went viral, the internet did what it is best at, turning the confusion into comedy. One user joked, “Arey bhaiya galt download kar liya (sic),” while another said, “Ye stranger things nhi hai bhai, ye ‘अजनबी चीजें’ hai (sic).”
Adding to the confusion, a third user added, “Ohh Kajol get camio in stranger things great (sic),” while fully embracing the absurdity of the moment.
Reality of the viral clip
Notably, the video is not from the show. Kajol does not star in Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2. The clip going viral on the internet is actually from her film Maa, which was released earlier this year.
Maa was directed by Vishal Furia. It received mixed reactions from critics as well as the audience. It ended its theatrical run with a modest box office collection of just Rs 36.08 crore. Notably, the confusion arises from visual similarities between antagonist Vecna from Stranger Things and Daitya from Maa. The similarities made the meme feel strangely convincing at first glance.
Meanwhile, Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 has opened to mixed reactions. Some fans are loving the emotional depth and performances. On the other hand, other users felt the narrative was weighed down by exposition. Stranger Things Season 5 marks the end of the universally beloved series, which was released in three volumes. Volume 1 released in November, Volume 2 dropped on December 25, while the final chapter, Volume 3, started streaming on December 31, 2025.
