If you’re planning on heading there on January 26, here’s everything you need to know.

Bengaluru’s main Republic Day event is held at the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground, located on Cubbon Road. The venue hosts state-level ceremonies, including the unfurling of the national flag, a ceremonial march-past, contingents of police and armed forces, and cultural performances.

Senior government officials and invited dignitaries attend the event, and security arrangements are tight.

Is this event open to the public?

Yes. Members of the public are allowed to participate in the Republic Day Parade, but prior online registration is mandatory. Entry is allowed only to those who have a valid e-pass issued by the authorities.

Walk-in entry is not allowed without registration.

How to register online

Registration for the Republic Day Parade is done through Seva Sindhu Portal, the official service of the Government of Karnataka.

Residents can apply online here https://sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in.

During registration, applicants have to enter basic personal details and upload valid photo identity proof like Aadhaar, Voter ID card or driving license. After successful submission, an e-pass or confirmation message is generated.

This pass must be carried on the day of the event, in digital or printed form, along with the original ID used during registration.

Reporting time and entry rules

Attendees are usually required to report early in the morning, usually between 7 and 8 am. Late entry may be prohibited once the event begins. Multiple security checks are conducted at entry points, and cooperation with police and security personnel is mandatory.

Children must be accompanied by adults. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities are advised to arrive early, as seating and movement inside the venue is controlled.

What you can and can’t take

Security rules are strict at the parade ground. Visitors should avoid carrying large bags, power banks, sharp objects, lighters, banners, political material or any prohibited items. Mobile phones are generally allowed, but photography may be restricted in some areas. Traveling light is strongly advised.

Traffic and travel advice

On Republic Day, traffic restrictions and diversions are imposed on Cubbon Road and surrounding areas. Parking is limited near the parade ground.

Bengaluru Traffic Police usually issues detailed advisories a day in advance. Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation where possible and plan their commute accordingly.

The Republic Day Parade is a high security, high interest event and passes are issued in limited numbers. Registering early, arriving on time, and following guidelines can help ensure a smooth experience.

what can you see there

Visitors attending the Republic Day Parade at the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground can expect a formal ceremonial event that reflects both national pride and state participation. The event begins with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the national anthem and a ceremonial guard of honour.

It usually involves a march-past by contingents of police, armed forces, NCC, Home Guards and other uniformed services.

The program also includes cultural performances and tableaux that showcase Karnataka’s heritage, social themes and achievements. School children and cultural troupes often perform synchronized exercises and patriotic displays, while official speeches highlight the significance of Republic Day.

The event is designed to be dignified and structured, giving attendees a chance to witness the state’s official Republic Day celebrations up close, rather than a large-scale spectacle.

For many Bengaluruans, attending the parade is a meaningful way to celebrate Republic Day – and with proper planning, it can be one to remember.
