Washington Sundar reflects on his four-wicket haul at Lord`s Cricket Ground

Team India all-rounder Washington Sundar claimed four wickets during England`s second innings of the third Test match at Lord`s Cricket Ground.

Reflecting on his four-wicket haul, the spinner said on `Match Centre Live`, “This performance definitely boosts my confidence because doing well in a place like England means a lot. I had specific plans coming into this Test, and Gauti bhai (Gautam Gambhir) helped me shape and refine them in the lead-up. To see those plans come together on the field is incredibly heartening”.

Sundar bowled 12.1 overs and bagged four wickets by conceding just 22 runs. He also bowled two maiden overs during the innings. In his spell, the 25-year-old accounted for the wickets of stalwart Joe Root, hosts skipper Ben Stokes, and wicket-keeper Jamie Smith and lead pacer Jofra Archer.

With this, the Chennai-born cricketer joined the likes of Bishan Singh Bedi, Bhagwath Chandrasekhar, Vinoo Mankad, and Srinivas Venkataraghavan to become the fifth Indian spinner to take four wickets or more in a Test at the iconic venue, Lord`s.

With Sundar`s heroics, India bowled out England for 192 runs in their second innings, with the help of Sundar`s four-wicket haul. Lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj bagged two wickets each. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep, too, registered one wicket each to their names. Spinner Ravindra Jadeja went wicketless in the hosts` second innings of the third match.

India`s second innings started with the loss of an early wicket in opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, as he got out for a duck. Coming to bat at number three, Karun Nair managed to score just 14 runs off 33 deliveries, including a boundary.

Skipper Shubman Gill failed to replicate his century heroics from the previous two matches. After scoring just 16 runs, Gill returned to the pavilion for six runs in the second essay. Akash Deep, who was sent as night watchman, was clean bowled by Stokes for just one run.

The visitors will resume the final day of the third Test match with a score of 58 runs for the loss of four wickets. KL Rahul is still unbeaten at the crease on a score of 33 runs off 47 deliveries, including six boundaries.
