Du Plessis` ton was his eighth in T20 cricket, putting him in elite company, drawing level with the likes of Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell, Jos Buttler, Michael Klinger, and Rohit Sharma for the fourth-highest number of T20 centuries. He now has 11,755 runs from 420 T20 matches.
Later, Saiteja Mukkamalla scored 25 runs off 18 deliveries with the help of three boundaries. After facing 22 balls, star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis accumulated 25 runs, including a boundary and a maximum.
Donovan Ferreira gave the finishing touches to Texas` innings. Facing just 20 balls, the right-hander played a knock of 53 runs, including three boundaries and five maximums.
For MI Cape Town, George Linde and Rushil Ugarkar were the only bowlers to claim wickets. They both registered two wickets each to their names. Star pacer, Trent Boult and all-rounder Kieron Pollard went wicketless in the match.
Later, while chasing a target of 223 runs, New York was able to reach just the score of 184 runs for the loss of nine wickets. In an attempt to chase the target, MI`s opener Quinton de Kock scored 35 runs in 25 balls, including two boundaries and three maximums. On the other hand, Pollard smashed 70 runs off just 39 deliveries. During his knock, the burly man smashed five boundaries and the same number of maximums. Despite his explosiveness, the side suffered a loss by 39 runs.
Pollard, too, etched his name further into the record books, surpassing Alex Hales to become the second-highest run-scorer in T20 history. With 13,738 runs in 702 matches, he trails only Chris Gayle (14,562 runs).
