Serbian SuperLiga side FK Crvena zvezda added fuel to the fire following Real Madrid’s loss to arch-rivals Barcelona by posting a meme poking fun at Los Blancos. The playful jab came after FK Crvena zvezda’s 5-2 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League group stage, where the Serbian team scored twice—a feat they highlighted given Real Madrid’s recent inability to find the net against the same opponents.

Crvena zvezda shared the post on their official social media, comparing their performance to Real Madrid’s scoreless outing in the El Clasico on October 28, where Barcelona claimed a commanding 4-0 win in La Liga. Barcelona’s dominant form continued as they secured a 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich, then dismantled Espanyol 3-1, before the 5-2 victory over Crvena zvezda, pushing them up to sixth place in the Champions League’s new league-phase table. With each win, Hansi Flick’s side has bolstered their standing in both European and domestic competitions.

“Hi Real Madrid, we may have lost, but we scored two goals,” the post read.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, has experienced a turbulent period since their El Clasico loss. Following the defeat, star forward Vinicius Jr. was controversially overlooked in the Ballon d’Or race, which ultimately went to Rodri. Just days later, Real Madrid suffered a 3-1 loss against AC Milan in the Champions League, further intensifying the criticism around their current form. Online, Madrid’s struggles have fueled fan frustration, as they now sit further behind Barcelona in La Liga standings.

The jibe from Crvena zvezda highlights the sharp contrast in fortunes between Barcelona and Real Madrid, with Barcelona riding a wave of recent victories while Los Blancos grapple with a series of setbacks. This latest post adds to the growing criticism of Madrid’s recent performances, as fans question the club’s consistency and ability to compete effectively in both La Liga and the Champions League. With Barcelona appearing strong on multiple fronts, Madrid now faces the challenge of regaining momentum and narrowing the points gap in the Spanish league standings.
