Why Bryan Mbeumo is perfect signing for Manchester United? Rio Ferdinand explains

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has explained why Bryan Mbeumo is the perfect signing for the club as the Cameroonian forward edges closer to a move to Old Trafford. It was reported on Friday, July 18, that United had reached an agreement with Brentford for the transfer of Mbeumo for a deal worth 71 million pounds, of which 65 is guaranteed and the rest of the six as add-ons.

If the medical goes through without issues, Mbeumo will become the third signing of the summer for United after Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon. Speaking on FIVE UK, Ferdinand said that the reported signing of the forward is big news for the Red Devils as they have been wanting more firepower and dynamism in the attack, which struggled a lot last season.

“This is huge news because we’ve been talking about Man United needing more firepower, needing more dynamism in attack, needing more power in general, and it seems they’ve identified him, Mbeumo, and he’s been signed to kind of fulfill that alongside the likes of Cunha and what’s already in the building,” said Ferdinand.

‘Mbeumo is performing at a high level’

During last season, Mbeumo scored 20 goals and provided 8 assists from 41 games. None of the United forwards were able to produce these stats and Bruno Fernandes with 19 goals ended up as the leading goalscorer.

Ferdinand said that Mbeumo will bring in goals for the Red Devils and is a player who is performing at the highest level at the moment.

“He brings goals. So the stats, and I don’t drive everything on stats, the eye test has to work and match up as well, and the eye test does. But the stats are super impressive, guys, I’m telling you, 41 appearances. 20 goals, that’s 1 goal every 2 games, right, and 8 assists, that’s 28 goal involvements in 41 games. This guy is performing at a high level,” said Ferdinand.

If the move can be wrapped over the weekend, Mbeumo will join his teammates as they fly out for their pre-season matches before the season starts in August.
