Australian cricketer Laura Harris delivered a breathtaking performance in the Women’s Super Smash 2025-26, smashing the joint-fastest half-century in women’s T20 history during Otago’s match against Canterbury on Sunday, December 28 at the Molyneux Park in Alexandra.
Harris, who was a part of the Delhi Capitals squad for the first two editions of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), stepped in during a tense run chase of 146 when Otago were struggling at 46 for 2 in the sixth over. Without hesitation, she launched a devastating assault on the Canterbury bowling attack.

Harris raced to her fifty in just 15 deliveries, equalling the fastest recorded half-century in women’s T20 cricket alongside Marie Kelly’s 15-ball fifty for Warwickshire in 2022.
Her innings included a remarkable six fours and four sixes, underlining her ability to clear the rope at will. Harris eventually finished on 52 off just 17 balls, a knock that not only secured the victory for Otago but also earned her the Player of the Match award.
Otago completed the chase comfortably in 14.5 overs, winning by six wickets with 31 balls to spare. In the WPL, Harris played a solitary game back in the inaugural edition in 2022, but she didn’t get a chance to bat.
HARRIS RISES FROM POOR FORM
This performance arrived after a relatively quiet season for Harris in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) with Sydney Thunder, where she managed only 69 runs in eight innings at an average of 11.50 and a strike-rate of 197.14.
Despite her meek returns in the WBBL, Harris would be delighted with the way she has begun the Super Smash. Before the landmark innings against Canterbury, Harris had flirted with rapid scoring records while playing for Warwickshire earlier in the season, including a 16-ball fifty against Durham in the Vitality Blast.
