IPL 2025 to resume on May 17 across 6 venues, final on June 3: BCCI

The Indian cricket board (BCCI) on Monday confirmed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season will resume from May 17. The IPL was suspended for a week due to the heightened cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. The board said that the remainder of the season will be played across six venues with the final scheduled for June 3.

The BCCI said the decision to restart the IPL was taken after extensive chats with the government, security agencies and all stakeholders.

“After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season,” the IPL said in a statement.

The IPL was suspended on May 9, a day after the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called-off in Dharamsala due to escalating tensions with Pakistan. The organisers had mentioned that the IPL was suspended for only a week amid speculations that the remainder of the tournament could be held in the August-September window.

The BCCI has now ensured that Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals replay their match that was called-off on May 24 in Jaipur. The league phase will end on May 27 and the playoffs will kick off on May 29. Initially, the IPL final was scheduled to be held on May 25.
