Nallapureddy Charani`s two wickets help India win by 24 runs

In the second T20I match against England women, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India women emerged victorious by 24 runs at the Bristol County Ground.

Batting first, the `Women in Blue` posted a total of 181 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana, who smashed her maiden century in the shortest format of the game, failed to replicate her performance in the second match. Facing 13 balls, the left-hander departed after scoring the same number of runs, which comprised two boundaries. Fellow opening batswoman Shafali Verma, too, departed early on three runs after facing four balls.

Premier batter Jemimah Rodrigues accumulated 63 runs off just 41 deliveries. Her knock saw her smash nine boundaries and a maximum.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who missed out on the first match, made a return in the second T20I. But her return did not turn out to be fruitful as she returned to the pavilion after scoring just one run in two balls.

Later, Amanjot Kaur played an unbeaten knock of 63 runs after facing 40 balls. Her knock was laced with nine boundaries. Shouldering her in the match was India`s wicketkeeper-batswoman Richa Ghosh, who stayed unbeaten on 32 runs in 20 balls. She smashed six boundaries during her knock.

England`s Lauren Bell claimed two wickets for 17 runs in four balls. Emily Arlott and Lauren Filer registered one wicket each to their names. Alice Capsey, Sophie Ecclestone and Linsey Smith went wicketless in the second T20I match against Team India.

In an attempt to chase down a target of 182 runs, the hosts lost the early wickets of their opening batters. Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge departed on one run each after facing five and two balls, respectively. Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt returned to the pavilion after scoring 13 runs in 10 balls, including three boundaries.

Tamsin Beaumont was the only positive for the English side from the match. Facing just 35 balls, the right-hander played a knock of 54 runs, which also included eight boundaries and a maximum. Wicketkeeper-batswoman Amy Jones scored 32 runs in 27 balls with the help of four boundaries.

Alice Capsey and Emily Arlott scored five and an unbeaten 12 runs, respectively. Sophie Ecclestone displayed her skills later in the innings. Facing 23 balls, she scored 35 runs, which were laced with four boundaries and a maximum.

Nallapureddy Charani bagged two wickets for 28 runs in four overs. Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur claimed one wicket each. With this, the England women`s team was restricted to 157 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
