Endurance sports on the rise in India, feel experts at SJAM event

Good health, fitness, endurance and sport were the buzz words at an enlightening panel discussion on the Future of Endurance Fitness in India, organised by the Sports Journalists’s Association of Mumbai (SJAM) at the CCI on Monday.

In the recent past, India has become a hub for endurance sports, with multiple top-notch marathons, IRONMAN 70.3 Goa and HYROX being the crucial catalysts in the ecosystem.

A day after the record-breaking HYROX run in the city on Sunday, with over 3350 participants and 4000-plus spectators in attendance, Vieri Parigi, HYROX Global’s Director of International Development and Strategy, said that “this is just the start by India in the journey of endurance sports.”

It was also felt that women athletes are a driving force. “Slowly, more women athletes are getting their time in the sun, whilst the number of brands, who are also conversing about fitness movements with women is increasing. This upward movement on the curve will only continue,” said Shreya Sachdev, head of marketing, Puma.
