In the Asia Cup 2025 match against Bangladesh, Team India secured a dominating victory by 41 runs at the Dubai International Stadium.
Swashbuckling opening batsman Abhishek Sharma was the architect of Team India`s innings. Facing just 37 deliveries, the left-hander smashed 75 runs, with the help of six boundaries and five maximums.
Speaking about his batting display, Abhishek said that if he goes with the flow, if the ball is in his radar. At times, he also tries to play it safe on the first ball, as the left-hander feels that some bowlers look to claim a wicket on the innings-opening ball.
“I got the job done for my team. I have told you before, also I go with the flow. When it`s in my range, I go after it even if it`s the first ball and try to get the power play for my team. In a few matches, I wanted to go after the first ball because there are certain bowlers who want to get a wicket off the first ball,” he said.
“This was a fresh wicket, I wanted to have a look, the ball was swinging and seaming. So Shubman and I decided to have a look and then go. I always wanted to go with the field, I always see the field and then go for my shots. I want to play according to the field,” added Team India`s left-handed opening batsman.
Further, speaking more, Abhishek revealed his strategy during the practice sessions, which in turn helps him to prepare himself for the matches.
“I have done a lot of work in the practice sessions, which is a time when the batter gets to play a lot of balls. When you play too many shots in the net, you can get out, but I practice and try not to get out in the nets,” said the 25-year-old cricketer.
The `Super Four` stage of the Asia Cup 2025 will be concluded by playing a game between Team India and Sri Lanka on September 26 at the Dubai International Stadium.
Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India has already sealed a berth in the Asia Cup 2025 final. They will face the team which manages to secure a win from the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
