President Murmu, PM Modi, leader and state CMS Gandhi pay tribute to Shastri on birth anniversary


President Draupadi Murmu paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat on Thursday (October 2, 2025) at Vijay Ghat.

PM Modi said that his government would follow Gandhi’s path to build a developed India.

He said on X, “Gandhi Jayati is about paying tribute to Bapu’s extraordinary life, whose ideals changed the curriculum of human history. He demonstrated how courage and simplicity can become a tool of great change.” PM Modi said that Gandhi believed as an essential means to empower people in the power of service and compassion.

He also paid tribute to the second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary also fell on Thursday (October 2). He appreciated him as an extraordinary politician, whose integrity, humility and determination strengthened India.

He said, “He expressed exemplary leadership, power and decisive action. His clear call of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ ignited the spirit of patriotism among our people. He continues to inspire us in an attempt to build a strong and self -sufficient India,” the Prime Minister said. PM Modi, who is promoting Swadeshi, said that buying products made by Indians would be a true tribute to Gandhi and Shastri. Swadeshi is the foundation of a self -reliant and developed India, he said.

This year is the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which has been remembered as the father of the nation for his important role in India’s freedom struggle.

Born in 1869 in Gujarat, Gandhi is considered the most influential Indian of his era as he shaped the country’s freedom movement through truth and non -violence, winning worldwide.

Shastri was born in Uttar Pradesh in 1904 and after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru, he was up to become the Prime Minister of the country. During his short tenure as Prime Minister, during his honesty and leadership of the country, during which India fought a war with Pakistan, he received him universal praise.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary, remembering their contribution to the upliftment of Dopetrane.

In a post on X, Shri Radhakrishnan said that through his life and teachings, Gandhi showed mankind the path of truth, love and selfless service. “His whole life was actually an experiment with truth.” The Vice President recalled Gandhi’s words that people should consider whether his actions would benefit the poorest and weakest man they have seen.

In another post, Shri Radhakrishnan said that Shastri’s life and leadership followed simplicity and honesty. He said that Shastri’s strong dedication and moral courage inspired generations to rise above personal interests for the maximum good of the country. He said, “His amazing dialect, ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’, reminds us of the inseparable bond between the essential pillars of the inseparable bond between our farmers and soldiers, the progress and safety of India,” he said. Shri Radhakrishnan said that Shastri continues to inspire the ideal nation of selfless service.

Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge on Thursday (October 2, 2025) highlighted former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary on his birth anniversary.

Mr. Kharge recalled Shastri’s speech in 1965, where he emphasized India’s progress since independence. He praised Shastri’s unique contribution to the nation, referring to his major initiatives such as land reforms, dairy and improvement in the foundation and transport sector for green revolutions.

Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Thursday (October 2, 2025).

On this occasion, Mr. Arlekar offered horrific paintings of the father of the nation and the father of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, which both share the same date of birth on the same date of birth at Raj Bhawan in Kerala.
