NEW DELHI: The friendship between Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill is not unknown to cricket fans. The two childhood buddies share a warm bond that is clearly visible both on and off the field. They began their cricket journey together in Punjab, rose through the junior ranks, played domestic cricket side by side, and are now proudly representing India at the senior level. Their camaraderie often reflects the deep-rooted connection they’ve shared since their formative years.
A heartwarming moment recently captured by a fan showcased the depth of their bond. Before boarding the team bus, Shubman stopped to greet Abhishek’s parents. He hugged Abhishek’s mother and respectfully touched his father’s feet. In response, Abhishek’s father affectionately kissed Shubman on the forehead and embraced him — a gesture that melted fans’ hearts on social media. It was a beautiful reminder of how the game goes beyond boundaries and builds lifelong relationships.Watch the video hereMeanwhile, India are currently trailing 0-1 in the five-match T20I series against Australia. The first game in Canberra was washed out due to rain, while the second match at the MCG saw Australia secure a four-wicket win. Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball, taking three wickets for just 13 runs, before Mitch Marsh’s quickfire 46 guided the hosts to victory. The third T20I will be played on Sunday at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
