Police on Monday arrested a man for raping an eight-year-old girl in Balongi when she had gone to throw garbage near her house. The incident happened when the accused, who lives in the same area, took the girl to nearby bushes. Hearing her scream, two local residents reached the spot and intervened. They confronted the man and managed to save the frightened girl, who was seen crying and shaken. The victim’s father, who works as a labourer, later contacted the police and lodged a complaint against the neighbour. She told the police that her daughter had gone out of the house to throw garbage when the accused picked her up and raped her.

Chandigarh Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) has set up a state-of-the-art in-house meter testing facility at its sub-station in Sector 56 to ensure the accuracy of electricity meters. According to officials, the primary objective of setting up the facility is to ensure that every electricity meter provided to consumers meets the accuracy standards. CPDL initiated a process to obtain certification from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). The testing facility will also be available to consumers who wish to get their meters tested by applying at the respective SDO offices.

CGC hosts Moot Court 2025

CSIR to host Indoor Games 2025

Twenty teams of scientists from CSIR laboratories, ministries and PSUs are competing in badminton, table tennis, chess and bridge. Panchkula Punjab’s Trijal Vohra dominated the U-13 youth boys’ singles event and won the trophy with a 3-0 win over West Bengal’s Jem Mahalanabish in the final on the third day of the 4th UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championship at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. Tryjal defeated Gem 11-4, 11-8, 11-9 and while Gem raised his game every game, he ultimately finished runner-up.
