It’s been a busy week for Salman Khan. The superstar recently wrapped a two-day shoot for a cameo in Riteish Deshmukh’s ambitious period drama Raja Shivaji, completing his portions by Wednesday evening (November 12). He then flew to Doha for his Da-Bangg Reloaded tour performance.
In Deshmukh’s directorial venture, Salman makes a special appearance as Jiva Mahala, one of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s most trusted warriors. A source tells mid-day, “Salman flew down to Doha for the Da-Bangg Reloaded show on Wednesday night, where he performed at the Asian Town Amphitheatre in Qatar. He shot for Riteish’s movie at a suburban studio earlier this week. Salman and Riteish share a warm bond, and when the actor-filmmaker approached him, he immediately agreed. He shot some close-ups, and once back, will resume Battle of Galwan, before filming his action sequences for Raja Shivaji choreographed by Parvez Shaikh. “Only Salman, with his commanding presence, could play Jiva Mahala,” the source concluded. The historical drama features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, and Abhishek Bachchan.
Who was Jiva Mahala?
A loyal Maratha warrior and one of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s trusted bodyguards, Jiva Mahala played a key role in protecting the king during the 1659 Battle of Pratapgarh. He is said to have saved Shivaji Maharaj’s life during the encounter with Afzal Khan’s forces.
