PM Narendra Modi congratulates Smriti Mandhana and Palash Mucchal, confirms wedding date

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt wishes to India batter and recent World Cup winner Smriti Mandhana on her engagement with music composer Palash Muchhal, calling the moment a joyous union of two accomplished individuals. In a special message, the Prime Minister congratulated both families and expressed hope that the couple would continue to inspire those around them with their journey together.

PM Modi wished the couple a happy life together and spoke about love, trust and togetherness in his note. In the letter, PM Modi also confirmed that Smriti and Palash are ser to tie the knot on November 23, something that the couple are yet to reveal themselves.

PM Modi’s official statement on Smriti and Palash wedding.

“May Smriti and Palaash build a shared life rooted in trust, standing by each other always, embracing responsibilities with love and growing together through each other’s strengths and imperfections,” PM Modi wrote.

The Prime Minister’s wishes followed Mandhana’s own playful confirmation of her engagement earlier. Instead of a formal announcement, the India batter chose a fun and light-hearted route, sharing a dance reel on Instagram with teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil and Radha Yadav. Set to the Bollywood song “Samjho Ho Hi Gaya” from Lage Raho Munna Bhai, the video showed the quartet enjoying a choreographed routine. In the final moments of the reel, Mandhana subtly flashed her engagement ring, sending fans into a frenzy.

On the field, it has been a remarkable period for Mandhana. The stylish left-hander played a key role in India’s maiden ICC Women’s ODI World Cup triumph. She topped the Indian batting charts at the tournament and scored a record-breaking 434 runs in nine innings, becoming the highest run-scorer by an Indian in a single edition of the World Cup. Along the way, she also struck a memorable century against New Zealand and built several important partnerships at the top of the order.

She finished as the second highest run scorer of the competition.

Already regarded as one of the finest batters in Indian women’s cricket, Mandhana now finds herself celebrating success on both a professional and personal front. With the Prime Minister’s message adding to the list of congratulatory wishes, the joyful countdown to November 23 has truly begun for the couple.
