St Lawrence High School (Borivli) registered a close 3-2 win over Dominic Savio High School (Andheri) in the Dreams Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school hockey Ahmed Sailor Pool ‘C’ league match at Don Bosco High School, Matunga, recently.
The Dominic Savio boys started strongly, taking a 1-0 lead through skipper Kaushik Lade in the 18th minute via a cleanly executed penalty corner.
After the half-time break, the St Lawrence lads produced a dramatic revival, sparked by some tactical moves from coach Mayur Pawar. The turning point came when Kanad Pandit and Mohammed Saad were moved from defensive positions to attacking roles. The decision paid off quickly. Kanad levelled in the 24th minute with a sharp finish into the top left corner. Then, St Lawrence took the lead in the 27th minute as Mohammed tapped in for 2-1. Niyuj Patil then struck in the 34th minute to give his side a 3-1 advantage. The Dominic Savio side pulled one back through Harsh Yadav (39th min).
“We didn’t start well, but I switched players and changed the formation later and that helped. If we stick to our plans, we can definitely win the tile this year,” St Lawrence coach Pawar said.
