Luthra brothers’ deportation live updates: Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, owners of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in North Goa’s Arpora, where 25 people died in a massive fire on December 6, have been arrested by Goa Police after they were deported from Thailand and brought to Delhi. Officials said the Goa Police arrested the Luthra brothers after they were brought out of the Delhi airport. Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra will now be produced before a court in the national capital before being taken to Goa.

The Delhi-based businessman had fled to Phuket, Thailand, just 90 minutes after a fire at his nightclub on December 6 claimed 25 lives.

Indian officials had contacted Thai authorities, as well as international agencies, seeking the brothers’ deportation from Thailand. The Government of India had also issued a Blue Notice with the help of Interpol.

Earlier, the Indian Embassy had issued two emergency certificates after the Luthra brothers’ passports were first seized and later canceled by the Ministry of External Affairs.

On Saturday, December 6, at around 11:45 pm, a massive fire broke out at the Luthra brothers’ Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, killing 25 people.

Even as the fire was raging in the nightclub, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra booked tickets for Thailand at 1:17 am on Sunday and left at 5:30 am the same day, officials said. HT has reported First.

Luthra brothers’ deportation LIVE: Arguing for anticipatory bail before a Delhi court, the Luthra brothers’ lawyer told the court that they were not fugitives and were ready to join the investigation in the Goa nightclub fire case.
