Farah Khan jokes Aamir Khan cut Vir Das’ Delhi Belly song short out of jealousy

Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently revisited a fun behind-the-scenes moment from the cult comedy Delhi Belly, sharing a light-hearted anecdote involving Aamir Khan and Vir Das. The conversation came up during a casual visit to Vir Das’s home, where the trio were discussing Vir’s upcoming directorial debut Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. What followed was a nostalgic and humorous throwback that fans of the film thoroughly enjoyed.

Farah Khan calls Aamir Khan jealous

Farah, who had choreographed Vir Das’s energetic song Jaa Chudail in Delhi Belly, began by praising the actor. Calling him a “great dancer,” she jokingly claimed that the song was cut short in the final edit because it turned out too good. With her trademark wit, she said, “It was too good aur Aamir ne woh dekha aur jal ke maare humara gaana aadha kaat diya kyuki uska gaana aaney wala tha uske baad.” According to Farah, Aamir trimmed the song out of jealousy since his own track was supposed to come next in the film.

Vir Das burst into laughter at the claim and recalled the explanation he had received at the time. “But I was told there were pacing issues,” he said, referring to the official reason given for shortening the song. Farah, clearly unconvinced, shot back with a dry and sarcastic, “Yeah, sure,” prompting more laughter.

The conversation then turned to Vir’s experience working with Farah and her team. Sharing an honest memory, Vir said, “Farah Khan’s team scares artistes a lot. They’re like, ‘This isn’t good enough for ma’am.’ But when Farah comes in, it’s completely the opposite.” He added warmly, “She’s the sweetest. She even sat and ate peanut butter with me.” Farah agreed with a smile and reiterated her praise, saying, “We had great fun shooting that song, and Vir is such a great dancer.”

The trio also laughed about the memorable costumes from the Jaa Chudail shoot. Vir joked, “You put me in leather pants,” which Farah immediately followed up with, “Yes — and that curly hair wig!” Vir then revealed an amusing detail, saying, “And those were Aamir’s pants.” A visibly shocked Farah asked, “But how did you fit into Aamir’s pants?” Without missing a beat, Vir replied, “I had to wear something extra…”

As the conversation wrapped up, Farah playfully warned, “Aamir, we are exposing a lot of your secrets,” keeping the tone fun and affectionate. The candid exchange offered fans a rare glimpse into the camaraderie behind Delhi Belly, reminding everyone why the film, and the people behind it, continue to be loved years later.
