Volkswagen Tayron R-Line India Launch 2026: Check Expected Price, Engine And Key Features You Shouldn’t Miss | Auto News

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line India Launch: The German automaker Volkswagen has revealed more details about the Tayron. Aimed at the Indian market, the Tayron will become the brand’s flagship SUV in India and will be positioned above the Tiguan R-Line. With this model, Volkswagen is making a return to the premium seven-seater SUV segment after discontinuing the Tiguan Allspace in 2021. The Tayron will compete with SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and MG Gloster.

The Tayron R-Line is expected to be launched in India by March 2026. Unlike the Tiguan R-Line, which was brought in as a completely built unit (CBU), the Tayron R-Line will arrive as a completely knocked down (CKD) model and will be locally assembled. This is likely to help Volkswagen price the SUV more competitively. The ex-showroom price is expected to be between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 50 lakh.

Built on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO platform, the Tayron R-Line shares its base with the Tiguan R-Line but features a longer wheelbase of 2,789 mm, which is 109 mm more than the Tiguan. This added length provides space for a third row of seats. The SUV features sporty styling elements such as aggressive bumpers, R-Line badges, LED light signatures, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The Tayron has also earned a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

Interior And Features

The Tayron R-Line comes equipped with a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It includes a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, 30-colour ambient lighting, and matrix LED lamps. The front seats feature leather upholstery with ventilation and a massage function. With the third row folded, the SUV offers up to 850 litres of boot space.
