Ravi Kishan to write a request to ministry of having National Awards for TV

Actor and Member of Parliament Ravi Kishan has strongly advocated for the introduction of National Awards for television, stating that such recognition would significantly elevate the quality of content and performances in the medium. With decades of experience across television, films and OTT platforms, Kishan believes that national-level acknowledgment can act as a powerful motivator for creators and actors alike.

Speaking on the issue, Ravi Kishan said he plans to formally raise the proposal with the government. “I will write to the ministry to create a category for TV shows in the National Film Awards,” he said. “This will enhance the quality of content and performances on television and create pressure on them to deliver. It can be implemented for different regional languages as well.”

Kishan pointed out that while television already has several award functions, the prestige associated with a National Award is unmatched. According to him, such recognition would encourage television makers to invest in better scripts, stronger narratives and meaningful storytelling rooted in Indian culture. “While there are several awards for television in the country, receiving a National Award offers a different prestige,” he emphasised.

The actor-politician also suggested that television awards could either be integrated into the existing National Film Awards or organised as a separate national ceremony dedicated exclusively to TV content. He believes either approach would bring long-overdue recognition to a medium that reaches millions of households every day.

Reflecting on his own journey, Kishan said he feels this is the most fulfilling phase of his career. “I will keep raising issues and do my best,” he stated, adding that he considers himself fortunate to be contributing both as an artist and a parliamentarian. He recently received praise for his performances and political work, calling it “the best phase of my life, as a star campaigner, a parliamentarian, and winning best actor awards.”

On the work front

Beyond entertainment, Kishan continues to raise social and legal issues in Parliament. He recently spoke about the need for action against false cases, referencing an Allahabad High Court order that addressed the matter.

On the work front, Ravi Kishan will soon be seen in Mamla Legal Hai Season 2 and upcoming films including Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run, Dhamaal 4, Mirzapur: The Film and Maa Behan.
