Released in 2016, ‘Airlift’ drew from real events of the Indian evacuation from Kuwait amid the 1990 Gulf War. Nimrat Kaur on marriage taunts
In an earlier News18 interview, Nimrat discussed facing taunts for remaining unmarried until ‘Lunchbox’ succeeded. She noted, “I’ve dealt with marriage questions. Every girl deals with it. And until The Lunchbox happened, I didn’t get that validation and recognition from my ‘well-wishers’ and people in my extended surroundings.”
Nimrat Kaur on societal pressure
She further said that her work and she were taken seriously because there was Irrfan Khan in the project. Before that, others commented that marriage time had arrived, but such queries ended after ‘The Lunchbox’. The film demonstrated her true potential, finally making her worthy of their praise, while she recognizes their views stem from societal conditioning that cannot be blamed. She pointed out how any sign of career struggles, insufficient earnings, or unmet expectations leads to suggestions of marriage and settling down, implying unmarried life equals unrest.
Nimrat Kaur’s recent projects
On the work front, Nimrat Kaur last appeared in the action-packed drama ‘Sky Force’ alongside Akshay Kumar and newcomer Veer Pahariya. She featured in a special role in ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’, teaming up again with Dasvi co-star Abhishek Bachchan to add emotional depth to the story. Upcoming is a detective comedy with Sunny Kaushal and ‘12th Fail’ star Medha Shankr, set to showcase Nimrat in a lighter, playful mode distinct from her intense prior characters.
