Barbie fame Margot Robbie recently attended the premiere of Wuthering Heights in Los Angeles. While her red carpet look in a sheer black off-shoulder gown stole the show, it was her choice of jewellery that had everyone’s attention. For her appearance, she adorned Elizabeth Taylor`s legendary Taj Mahal diamond necklace. This historic jewellery piece beautifully bridges Hollywood glamour with Mughal dynasty heritage.
About Margot Robbie’s Taj Mahal diamond necklace
Margot Robbie made a striking red-carpet appearance in a dramatic strapless gown featuring a sheer black lace bodice and a voluminous skirt that fades into a bold crimson hem. What truly stole the spotlight was Robbie’s jewellery choice. The 35-year-old actor stepped out wearing Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic heart-shaped Taj Mahal diamond necklace, which costs approximately Rs 74 crore.
The piece weaves together centuries of timeless romance and legacy. Speaking on the red carpet, Robbie said the necklace “felt like it had a lot of romantic history and felt appropriate for tonight.”
About the necklace
The necklace was given as a gift to Elizabeth Taylor by her fifth husband, legendary actor Richard Burton, 54 years ago on her 40th birthday. The heart-shaped table-cut diamond bears a Parsi inscription reading “Love is Everlasting,” with Nur Jahan`s name also carved into it. The gem is believed to have been given by Nur Jahan`s husband, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, and later passed down to their son, Shah Jahan.
According to jewellery experts and scholars, Shah Jahan presented the jewellery to his wife, Mumtaz. Due to its deep association with the Mughals, the necklace is also known as the Taj Mahal Diamond. In 1971, French luxury brand Cartier acquired the Taj Mahal Diamond, accenting it with red gemstones and table-cut diamonds.
About Wuthering Heights
The upcoming Wuthering Heights has already raised eyebrows for its steamy trailer, period-inaccurate costume choices, and moody Charli xcx soundtrack. The film stars Jacob Elordi alongside Margot. The actor had revealed that he was planning to go on a break from acting before he was offered this film. Wuthering Heights is releasing on 13 February 2026, and Emerald Fennell told fans last year that an adaptation of the classic novel would be her third feature film.
