ICC T20 World Cup: India must settle top-order doubts to beat Pakistan, says Sunil Gavaskar

Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar said the Indian team was aware of the areas they need to improve, pointing out that the top order remains a slight concern ahead of the high-octane clash against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

“What has happened, though, is that India have understood the areas they need to strengthen. I think the top of the order is one area that will concern them slightly. If Abhishek Sharma is not 100 percent fit and Sanju Samson comes in, there is never any doubt about the ability he has. We have seen it time and again that when Samson is going well, he can destroy any attack,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today.

“But temperament has been his main issue, and that is where selection becomes important. So this is one area where India may be just a touch worried. They need a good start in those first six overs, and Samson could be a key player,” Gavaskar added.
