The India AI Impact Expo has been extended by a day and will continue till tomorrow, February 21, while the summit will end today itself.
AI Summit 2026 Live Updates: The fifth and decisive day of India AI Impact Summit 2025 is going to witness many important discussions, including reimagining India’s education system, US-India partnership powering the AI era, AI in dialogue and diplomacy, data sovereignty, collective AI for Indian society and many more.
On Friday, Brazil and its perspective on the future of AI will also be a major highlight as President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will address the summit along with several other Brazilian ministers.
The fifth day of the summit may also see the adoption of a Leaders’ Declaration that will reaffirm collective commitments and outline a shared road map for global AI governance and cooperation.
There will also be meetings of the High Level Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Council.
This comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the summit on Thursday and sought to project India as a major player in the AI ecosystem. During his address, PM Modi called for stronger guardrails to regulate emerging technologies and underlined the transformative potential of AI. He also emphasized key topics such as child safety and called for greater democratization of artificial intelligence.
They hosted several heads of state at the summit on Thursday and also held a CEO roundtable, which brought together many stakeholders from the world of AI. “The discussions were practical and visionary, focused on scaling AI responsibly, strengthening global collaboration, and opening up opportunities for growth,” he said in a post on X.
PM Modi’s ‘human’ vision
PM Modi presented India’s ‘human’ approach to getting closer to AI during his address on Sunday. ‘Human’, meaning human, means – “M means moral and ethical system. A means accountable governance, transparent rules and strong oversight. N means national sovereignty – whose data, their rights. The second A means accessible and inclusive, not AI monopolies, but multipliers. V means valid and legitimate. This vision will be a vital link in the welfare of humanity,” the Prime Minister said.
Sam Altman says ‘true superintelligence’ could be just a few years away
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman gave a keynote speech at the AI Summit on Thursday and said superintelligence may only be a few years away, but also warned that “something like the IAEA” may be needed to regulate what happens after that.
“On our current trajectory, we believe we may be only a few years away from the earliest versions of true superintelligence,” Altman said. “By the end of 2028, more of the world’s intellectual capacity could reside inside data centers than outside,” he said.

AI Summit 2026 Live Updates: New Delhi Traffic Police restrictions for AI Impact Summit today
As the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at the Bharat Mandapam enters its fifth day, the Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) in its latest advisory has mentioned a list of affected routes and alternatives for them for smooth movement of vehicles in the national capital.
Keeping in view the numerous VVIP activities scheduled at the summit venue – Bharat Mandapam, Indira Gandhi International Airport and other important points of the city, special traffic arrangements have been made between 8 to 10 am and 5 to 9 pm.

AI Summit 2026 live updates: Early versions of true superintelligence “could be coming within a few years,” OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said at the India AI Impact Summit on Thursday, offering the most aggressive timeline of any speaker at the three-day event — and warning that the world may need “something like the IAEA” going forward.
“On our current trajectory, we believe we may be only a few years away from the earliest versions of true superintelligence,” Altman said in his keynote address at the summit. “By the end of 2028, more of the world’s intellectual capacity may reside inside data centers than outside.”
Altman said that the pace of progress demands a new kind of international organization. “We anticipate that the world may need something like the IAEA for international coordination of AI, and particularly for the ability to respond rapidly to changing circumstances,” he said earlier in his keynote address.
Speaking to HT in a closed-door conversation with select journalists shortly after his speech, Altman cited recent evidence to support the superintelligence claim, and said OpenAI models have solved most research-level math problems without any prior published proof. “We did this event called First Proof and the model got a seven out of 10,” he said. Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak participated in an interactive session at the India AI Impact Summit, 2026 at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Thursday.
During the conversation, Sunak took responsibility for starting the session a few minutes late and apologized to the gathered audience for delaying his arrival at the venue. The former British PM also took a dig at the traffic jam in Delhi.
