The T20 World Cup 2026 is set to witness the semi-final 2 between Team India and England. The match is scheduled to be played on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Ahead of the match, New Zealand`s Chris Gaffaney and South Africa`s Allahuddien Paleker will be the on-field umpires. Additionally, Zimbabwe`s Andy Pycroft will be the referee for the match.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the match officials for both the semi-finals of the marquee event.
Earlier, in the previous edition of the global showpiece, Gaffaney also oversaw the proceedings when the “Men in Blue” and the “Three Lions” clashed against each other. On the other hand, Paleker also stood in two of England`s matches in the ongoing tournament and India`s match against the Netherlands.
Accompanying the trio in Mumbai will be Adrian Holdstock (third umpire), and Paul Reiffel (fourth umpire). Ahead of the match, the cricket fans will expect Team India`s swashbuckling opening batsman Abhishek Sharma to deliver a big knock. Additionally, considering the previous match`s performance, Sanju Samson will also look to replicate his heroics against the Englishmen.
England`s Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf will be the on-field umpires for the semi-final one between South Africa and New Zealand. The match will be played on March 4 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The pair will be joined in Kolkata by Nitin Menon as the third umpire, while Rod Tucker will take his place as the fourth umpire. Javagal Srinath has been named the match referee for this game.
Illingworth was also among the on-field umpires for South Africa`s T20 World Cup semifinal two years ago against Afghanistan.
Wharf, meanwhile, also officiated in New Zealand`s win over the same opposition in the 2026 group stage. The Proteas will be eager to secure a dominating victory over the “Black Caps” and seal their berth in the final.
T20 World Cup 2026: Final match`s venue and date
It will be interesting to see which two of the teams seal their berths in the final of the mega event. The title clash is scheduled to be played on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
