England is set to take on Team India in the semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026. The match will be played on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Ahead of the match, England skipper Harry Brook said that his team is often seen as a poor-performing side against spin. He then stated that the “Three Lions” have defeated Sri Lanka in their own backyard and have gained confidence for playing on turning tracks.
“I feel like England always get a bad rap about playing against spin. We have gone to Sri Lanka, and we have won six games in a row against the subcontinent side, who are very good in their own backyard, and we have got a lot of confidence playing on turning pitches,” he said.
The skipper then said that he will try to score as many runs as possible against Team India`s mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy.
“Chakravarthy is one of the best bowlers in the world, and I will try my best to face him and score as many runs as I can against him,” said Brook.
In the ongoing global showpiece, England stalwart Jos Buttler is struggling with his form. So far in seven innings, the right-handed batsman has scored 62 runs.
Speaking about him, the skipper labelled Buttler as a “powerhouse” and said that there should be no questions regarding his place in the team.
“I think leaving him alone is probably the best thing to do. He`s been a powerhouse of a cricketer for many years, as we`ve all seen. I have been asked this question thousands of times now, and I just think there should be no reason to question why he is in the team,” said the 27-year-old cricketer.
