Lakshya Sen vs Lin Chun-Yi Live, All England Open 2026: India’s Lakshya Sen plays the shot.
Lakshya Sen vs Lin Chun-Yi Live, All England Open 2026: Lakshya Sen will take on Lin Chun-Yi in the men’s singles at the All England Open in Birmingham on Sunday. It will be a bit of revenge for Lakshya, as he had lost to the same opponent in the quarter-finals of the India Open in January. The Indian shuttler showed great resilience in his semi-final win over Canada’s Victor Lai, a match that lasted 1 hour and 37 minutes. They won 21-16, 18-21, 21-15 and the match tested their physical stamina, as many rallies went beyond 50 strokes.
This is also Lakshya’s second All England final, having lost to Viktor Axelsen in the 2022 summit clash. This year he will try to become the third Indian to win the All England title. His mentor, Prakash Padukone, reached the All England final in 1980 and 1981 and won the title in his first appearance. Meanwhile, Pullela Gopichand is the second Indian to win the title in 2001. Apart from Lakshya, Saina Nehwal (2015) and Prakash Nath have come close to winning the title by finishing as runners-up.
After his semi-final win Lakshya said, “I was just taking one point at a time. At the beginning of the third game, I felt cramps in my legs. I didn’t know if I could continue or not, but I was just fighting for each point and not thinking about it.”
He added, “That was the only strategy, to finish the rallies in the first few shots. He was quite steady, but we both got tired of increasing the pace. But it was important for me to do it till the end.”
Chun-Yi, on the other hand, defeated world number two Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in the other semi-final. It was a tight match, as Chun-Yi won 21-14, 18-21, 21-16. Shi Yuqi, the top seed and defending champion in the tournament, also lost to the Senators in the opening round. Meanwhile, Danish second Anders Antonsen also lost in the first round.

Lakshya Sen vs Lin Chun-Yi Live, All England Open 2026: Sindhu analyzes both Lakshya, Chun-Yi
Lakshya Sen vs Lin Chun-Yi Live, All England Open 2026: Going to the X before the final, PV Sindhu analyzes both the players. He wrote, “Lakshya vs Lin Chun Yi is going to be a fascinating final at the All England. Watched some videos of Lin today Saturday.”
“He will be a very different challenge to Victor. Very quick in attack, takes the shuttle ridiculously quickly and maintains pressure on every lift.
“And he’s a leftist. It always changes the geometry of the rallies. In India we rarely get high quality left-handed sparring partners, so honestly it’s very hard to prepare for. I remember playing with players like He Bingjiao and the angles felt completely different.
“Assuming that Goal has recovered from yesterday’s physical problems, Lynn will still be a big test. But one thing I would bet on in my sleep is Goal’s defence.
“Should be an incredible match. Just wish the final was a little later to give him more time to recover.”
“The heart says goal. The brain says line”.
