On Friday, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali announced his upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina. While clashes are not new in the film industry, what makes this interesting is that Varun Dhawan-starrer had shuffles their dates only afew days back after Toxic decided to clash with them. Now, after the reshuffle, Varun`s film is set to clash with Imtiaz Ali`s directorial.
When Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai postponed their release
Directed by David Dhawan, the film is a vibrant celebration of youth, love and laughter. Featuring an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is among the most anticipated releases of the year and promises the high-energy storytelling that Tips Films and David Dhawan are known for.
In an official statement, Ramesh Taurani, Managing Director of Tips Films, said, “We would like to clarify that our film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was originally scheduled for release on June 5, a date we had announced several months ago. However, after recent developments and considering the prevailing situation, we felt it would be more appropriate to shift our release.”
He further added, “We strongly believe that it is always healthier for the industry when filmmakers support one another rather than compete unnecessarily on the same date. In that spirit of solidarity, we have decided to move the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai to June 12 and bring our film to audiences a week later.”
Promotional activities, including the launch of the film’s soundtrack and trailer, will continue as planned, building momentum toward the new mid-June release.
About Main Vaapas Aaunga
The film promises a poignant story of love and longing and also reunites the powerful musical trio of Imtiaz Ali, A. R. Rahman and Irshad Kamil. The posters shared on social media hint at an old-school romance. One image features Sharvari riding a bicycle through fields while Vedang Raina runs behind her, dressed as a Sikh man. Another poster shows Diljit Dosanjh standing calmly in the middle of a field.
The teaser suggests that the story unfolds across two timelines and hints at a love story set during the Partition of India. Diljit appears to serve as the narrator who bridges the past and the present. Meanwhile, Naseeruddin Shah is seen lying on a hospital bed, dealing with an age-related illness, suggesting that Vedang may be portraying the younger version of his character.
Speaking about the teaser, Imtiaz Ali said, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? The biggest story of the century is migration. I feel privileged to have the chance to tell such a story on celluloid. This fictional tale draws heavily from stories of people during the Partition. The past is always present. Decades later, when the sorrow has been spoken about, what remains is the early feeling of love that was too personal to share. The nostalgia of who we love and where we belong stays with us forever. This personal treasure sustains us and defines the quality of our lives.”
