Iran US war live updates: US says end of war ‘coming’; Trump claims, army will leave Iran in 3 weeks

Iran US war news: The UAE is reportedly preparing to help the US and other allies open the Strait of Hormuz waterway by force.

Iran US War Live Updates: US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that US forces would end the war and leave Iran within two to three weeks, saying there was nothing left to do in Tehran. He suggested that America had achieved the goal it had set. Trump said, “I had a goal. They would not have any nuclear weapons and that goal has been achieved. They would not have nuclear weapons.”

White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt posted without specifics on Twitter that Trump would address the nation on Wednesday night (local time) “to provide an important update on Iran.”

End of Iran war ‘coming’

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly said that the end of the war in Iran is “coming”. He told Fox News, “The end of the Iran war is not going to happen today, not tomorrow, but it is going to happen.”

“No country is doing anything to help Iran that is in any way hindering our mission,” Rubio said.

Iran is ‘ready’ but needs ‘guarantees’

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian reportedly expressed Tehran’s readiness to end the war against “American-Israeli aggression”. But he said Iran needed “firm guarantees” against future domestic attacks, Press TV reported.

In a phone call with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, Pezeshkian pressed for an immediate ceasefire, as it is the main solution to “normalize the situation”.

He also stressed that Iran has “never wanted tension or war at any level”, but is committed to protecting its sovereignty.

Netanyahu: America-Israel ‘systematically crushed’ Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday hailed “huge achievements” in the ongoing conflict with Iran, saying joint United States-Israel efforts were “systematically crushing” the Iranian government.

He said that Tehran’s administration would collapse “sooner or later”. Netanyahu alleged that Iran has tried to achieve its “malignant ambitions” through nuclear development, ballistic missiles, etc., while also trying to avoid “heavy sanctions”.

He claimed, “Now, I want to tell you: Over the last few years, all this has cost Iran about a trillion dollars. And now it can be said: That trillion has been wasted.”

Tanker collided near Qatar: UK

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Wednesday that a tanker was hit by an unidentified projectile about 17 nautical miles north of Doha, Qatar, causing damage to the hull above the waterline. The British agency said the ship’s crew was safe, adding that there were no environmental impacts.

Trump told others: ‘Take your own oil’

Donald Trump hit out at his allies for not supporting the US enough in its war against Iran, telling them to “go get your own oil”. He said it was not Washington’s job to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway that is the world’s largest oil chokepoint.

Speaking about an end to US aggression, the President said the US would “have nothing to do” with what happens in the strait closed by Iran. Instead, he said, the responsibility for keeping the narrow waterway open will fall on the countries that depend on it.

“We have no reason to do this,” he said. “That’s for us. That’s for France. That’s for whoever is using the strait,” Trump said.

oil prices

Oil prices rose in early trading Wednesday, with Brent front-month futures achieving a record rally in March amid volatility around the conflict in the Middle East.

The front-month Brent contract for June delivery rose 0.63 percent to $104.63 a barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate crude futures for May rose 0.95 per cent to $102.34 a barrel.

Brent fell 3.2 percent on Tuesday, while West Texas Intermediate was trading near $102 a barrel.
