Parineeti Chopra is proud of husband Raghav Chadha for starting debate on paternity leave as legal right in Parliament

Actor Parineeti Chopra is proud that her husband, Raghav Chadha, called for paternity leave to be recognised as a legal right in India. Raghav, a Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party, raised the issue during a parliamentary session, arguing that caregiving responsibilities must be shared equally by both parents. Parineeti took to her Instagram account to give a shoutout to him and praised his efforts.

What Parineeti said

Sharing a clip from his speech in the Parliament, Parineeti wrote in the caption, “My dearest husband. You spoke today not just as an MP but as the dad, I see every single day. We have discussed this so many times. How our baby deserves both parents to be present – to the best of their ability. So when you spoke today, it wasn’t just policy. It was built from the way you parent our child the way you show up without being asked, the way you understand that PARENTING IS SHARED, not assigned.”

‘If this helps even a few parents…’

She added, “Bacche ke paida hone par, keval ek maa ka janm nahi, ek pita ka bhi janm hota hai. (When a baby is born, it not only marks the birth of a mother but also of a father). There are so many mothers who carry this responsibility alone, often unheard, unseen. Homes where the fathers’ and family support are missing. Today, you brought their loneliness into the Parliament – a room where it truly matters. If this helps even a few parents, especially mothers feel more supported, it will be a win for us. Thankyou for being the dad – and the leader you are. I see it everyday, now India will see it too. Proud of you always, my Ragaii.”

During his speech, Raghav stressed that the burden of caregiving largely falls on the mother. He argued that this imbalance needs legislative correction.

Parineeti and Raghav tied the knot in an intimate but grand wedding ceremony at The Leela Palace in Udaipur in May 2023. The wedding was attended by close friends and family. Two years after their marriage, the couple welcomed their son, Neer, on October 19, 2025.

Parineeti Chopra’s upcoming work

Parineeti will next be seen in Talaash, directed by Rensil D’Silva and produced by Sapna Malhotra and Siddharth P Malhotra. The film also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jennifer Winget, Soni Razdan, Sumeet Vyas and Harleen Sethi in key roles. The film is slated for release on Netflix later this year. The film marks Parineeti’s comeback to acting after becoming a mother.
