Mayank Yadav was one that everyone had their eyes on heading into the IPL 2026. Once making an instant impact in Lucknow colours, Mayank won the Player Of The Match awards in his first two games and everyone was attracted to the raw pace he was able to extract.

There were even calls for him to be fast-tracked to the Indian team. But two years later, the tearaway pacer does find him struggling with injuries and missing a lot of games. So when everyone spotted him back in the LSG squad and looking in fine shape, everyone thought he would be one of the first names in the lineup for the clash against LSG.
However, that wasn’t the case, and the pacer couldn’t even find a space on the impact substitutes bench for the clash at the Ekana stadium. In the end, Mayank Yadav’s extra pace could have helped Lucknow as they lost to Delhi by 6 wickets.
Speaking after the game, LSG batter Mukul Choudhary revealed that Mayank is fully fit and the decision to play him rests with the captain and the team management.
“He is fit. The Rest is team management and the captain and how they are planning to use him,” said Mukul.
Mayank last played for LSG in the IPL in May 2025.
MUKUL ON PANT’S ADVICE
Mukul has been slotted in to be LSG’s finisher this season and despite a slow start, he said that he has the backing of the team management and captain Rishabh Pant. The hard-hitting batter said that Pant told him to back himself fully and not take too much pressure and play his natural game.
“Yes, when we had pre-season camp in Chennai, we spoke. He said don’t take too much pressure, we will back you fully. Play your natural game. According to situation, you keep adding things. Even after that also, he says same thing — no need to take pressure, just do what you think, play your game,” said Mukul.
LSG will face SRH on 5th April in Hyderabad.
