Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge is not just ruling the box office, it is now beginning to affect the release plans of other major films, too. As Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller continues its phenomenal theatrical run, the makers of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla have decided to postpone the film’s release by a week in order to give Dhurandhar 2 a “clear, uninterrupted window” in cinemas.

Bhooth Bangla postponed
Bhooth Bangla, which was earlier slated to release in theatres on April 10, will now arrive with paid previews beginning from April 16.
Film’s producer Ektaa Kapoor took to Instagram to announce the change and shared an official note. It read, “After extensive discussion and multiple requests from our distribution partners and exhibitors across key markets, we have decided to postpone the release of Bhooth Bangla by one week. We remain committed to delivering a great cinematic experience and are confident that this decision will benefit audiences and allow the film to have a powerful run in cinemas.”
The note further explained the reason behind the decision and acknowledged the extraordinary box office performance of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. It stated, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge is currently enjoying an exceptional run at the box office, which is great news for producers at large. Our exhibitors felt that giving it a clear, uninterrupted window would be in the best interest of the industry ecosystem.”
It added, “By moving Bhooth Bangla ahead by a week, we are ensuring that both films get the theatrical space, marketing focus, and audience attention they truly deserve. We believe this approach benefits everyone, the filmmakers, the exhibitors, and most importantly, the audiences, who get to experience each film without compromise. We will always prioritise the comfort of the theatre-going audience and strive to entertain them in the best way possible with our films.”
Dhurandhar: The Revenge box office success
Dhurandhar: The Revenge opened to a thunderous response at the box office, collecting ₹145 crore on its opening day, including paid previews. Since then, the film has shown remarkable consistency and continues to hold strong even in its second week.
So far, in just 14 days, the film has collected over ₹920 crore net in India and more than ₹1,400 crore worldwide. Starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Rakesh Bedi in key roles, the film has already surpassed the lifetime collections of several blockbusters including Jawan, Pathaan, Kalki 2898 AD, RRR, Pushpa: The Rise and KGF: Chapter 2.
The film is now eyeing the lifetime numbers of Baahubali: The Conclusion and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule.
