Farah Khan reacts to Rajpal Yadav being out on bail

Farah visited Rajpal’s manager and friend, Saket Swahney’s house, for her cooking vlog. As Rajpal welcomed her inside, Farah hugged him and said, “I am meeting you after so many years.” She added that she had brought some delicious food, kadhi chawal and a potato dish for him, to which Rajpal said he had also prepared something for her and hoped she would like it.

Farah then said, “Mereko achha lagg raha hai ki tu bahar ghoom raha hai, sabse zayada vohi acha lag raha hai (I’m happy to see you out and about, that’s what I am most happy about),” clearly expressing her happiness about Rajpal being out on bail in his 9 crore debt case.

In the video, she also spoke about her brother-sister-like bond with Rajpal, revealing that she had choreographed his first-ever song in the film Mast. The filmmaker and choreographer also shared that she used to scold Rajpal a lot, to which the actor said he was only ever scared of her, but called her scolding a blessing.

About Rajpal Yadav’s case

In 2010, Rajpal borrowed 5 crore from Delhi-based Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to fund his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata (2012). The film failed at the box office, resulting in heavy losses. As a result, the actor failed to repay the amount, leading to a legal dispute. In 2018, a magistrate’s court convicted the actor in a cheque bounce case under the Negotiable Instruments Act, sentencing him to six months’ imprisonment. The decision was upheld by a sessions court in 2019, and the amount eventually rose to nearly 9 crore.

In February, after he failed to make the payment, he surrendered and was sent to Tihar Jail. Several celebrities reportedly came out in support of the actor, and he was granted interim bail on February 16, valid until March 18. The court ordered Rajpal to deposit 1.5 crore for bail, and after the complainant’s lawyer confirmed that the actor had deposited the money, he was granted relief. Later, the Delhi High Court also clarified that Rajpal would not be taken back into custody even after the earlier interim order was vacated.

Rajpal Yadav’s upcoming film

Rajpal is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla. Helmed by Priyadarshan, the film also stars Akshay Kumar in a lead role, along with Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi. Produced by Ektaa Kapoor and Akshay, the film is now scheduled to release in cinemas on April 17, with paid previews beginning on April 16 at 9 pm.
