The Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 106 runs in their first six overs against the Punjab Kings. SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head put on a show as they attacked the PBKS bowlers from the first ball.
Abhishek Sharma raced to 66 runs in just 22 balls to give the visitors a dream start. His innings consisted of 5 fours and 7 sixes. Meanwhile, Travis Head looked back to his best too, scoring 31 in just 15 balls. The duo raced to a 100-run partnership in the first six overs.
With a deep batting line-up to come, SRH will hope to put on a big target at the end of their innings. Heinrich Klassen, Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy are still to come for the visitors.
For PBKS, Vijaykumar Vyshak was the most expensive bowler, going for 24 runs in his only over. Chalal`s bowling will be crucial for the hosts to restrict SRH to a respectable score.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Shreyas Iyer was happy to bowl first. The PBKS skipper wanted to chase in the day game.
“We`re going to bowl first. It`s a day game and obviously want to get a knack of how the wicket is going to play and a fair idea. But other than that, that`s what we`ve been doing in the last couple of games.” Shreyas Iyer said.
Ishan Kishan admitted that he would have liked to bowl first too, but did not mind batting first on a fresh wicket. The SRH keeper will be delighted with the start that his openers have given the team.
“We would have loved to bowl first. But yeah, I think wicket looks pretty hard to me. And it`s about playing good cricket in the first innings.” Kishan said.
