Skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler backed up pacer Prasidh Krishna’s excellent four-wicket burst with flamboyant half-centuries, guiding Gujarat Titans to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL match here on Sunday.
Krishna shone brightly with figures of 4-28 as GT restricted LSG to 164-8 and then the visitors rode on Gill (56 off 40 balls) and Buttler (60 off 37 balls) to chase down the target with eight balls to spare.

Krishna said the pitch offered little margin for error for both sides: “The pitch was challenging — even for the bowlers. If you didn’t get your line or length right, it would travel. We saw that in the Powerplay; every time we missed our slot, they [LSG batters] played some really good shots. It was quite challenging for both bowlers and batsmen,” he said. The 30-year-old, who bowled several slower balls during his match-winning spell, said those were the result of extensive practice in the nets. “Definitely a lot of practice. You need to bowl a lot of those in the nets and feel good about them before you can bring them into the game.”
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant admitted that his side fell short with the bat and failed to capitalise on the opportunities presented in the game. “Definitely not enough runs. There’s nothing from the fact that they bowled well,” Pant said.
“I think on a wicket like this, a score like 170 to 180 is a really good score. But, you know, the wicket kept on falling and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going,” he added.
Besides Krishna, Ashok Sharma (2-32), Siraj (1-19) and Rabada (1-54) were the other wicket-takers for the Gujarat side.
