Vijay Varma is gearing up to impress audiences again as Matka King is set to release on April 17. Apart from his professional endeavours, the actor has been under scrutiny for his breakup with Tamannaah Bhatia. The actors dated each other for two years before calling it quits in 2025. Now, Vijay has revealed how he has been subjected to negativity, trolls, and gaalis over the past one year and how it has left him baffled.
Vijay Varma on social media hate
In a recent interaction with News18, Vijay opened up about how the constant scrutiny affected him negatively. “When we were growing up, saying something bad about someone on a public platform was frowned upon and not appreciated. Those who badmouthed were considered wrong. Abhi sab kuch ulta ho gaya hai. Jo gaali de raha hai, usko koi kuch nahi bol raha hai (Now everything is upside down. No one is saying anything to the person who is abusing). The one who’s being subjected to these abuses will, in fact, have more people badmouthing rather than supporting them,” he said.
Vijay also recalls the negative things and ‘lies’ that were constantly written about him in the past year. “The world is changing so fast. I’m not able to catch up. There has been an entire shift in the culture. The way people communicate and write comments is a little too excessive, direct, and personal. Sometimes, there’s too much fabrication and too many lies [written about you],” he states.
When Tamannaah spoke about relationships
In a 2025 interview with NDTV, Tamannaah Bhatia opened up about love and relationships. She had said, “I am trying to work on becoming a great life partner. So that’s the quest at the moment. I want to be that life partner that someone feels like they have done some good karma in their past life. That’s why I have come into their life. Whoever the lucky person is, I am working for it. I think there are a few things that I recently realised. One is that people confuse what love is and what a relationship is.”
Vijay Varma upcoming movies
The actor is all set to raise the stakes with Matka King. The show offers a glimpse into a gripping saga set in the rapidly transforming Bombay of the 1960s, where one ambitious cotton trader dares to defy the odds, building a bold new gambling empire known as ‘Matka’ and turning an exclusive pastime of the elite into a nationwide phenomenon. Apart from this, he will be seen in Family Business, a high-stakes corporate saga created by Hansal Mehta and Niren Bhatt, featuring Anil Kapoor.
