Dhurandhar 2: Ranveer Singh`s old clip about ban on Pak artists resurfaces

Ranveer Singh is currently basking in the blockbuster sequel of Dhurandhar 2, which has even smashed the box-office records of its first part. While the franchise has been receiving an outpouring of love from fans and members of the industry, many have also criticised the film for being pro-establishment propaganda.

Ranveer Singh`s old statement on Pakistan goes viral

Amid the Dhurandhar 2 mania, Ranveer`s old clip talking about India`s ban on Pakistani artists has now gone viral. The clip is from the India Today Conclave held in 2019. Sharing his take on the issue, Ranveer spoke about prioritising the wishes of people who are in the army rather than spectators.

He said, “I am cognisant that there is one school of thought that one should not mix art with it or sport with it. These are different realms and the boundaries are separate. But at the same time us as artists, sportsmen or spectators, we are not sacrificing the way some of our compatriots are. If there are people in the forces or their near and dear ones, what their sentiments are should have the highest value. If there is one mother of a soldier who believes we should not engage, then we should respect the sentiment. I think what they want should be of utmost importance to us.”

As the clip went viral, netizens were quick to praise the actor for his stance and his clarity of thought. A user shared the video and wrote, “Ranveer Singh was the perfect choice for a film like Dhurandhar,” adding, “He said this way before Dhurandhar in 2019!!”

Another user wrote, “He`s way too articulate, eloquent, and smarter than 90 percent of Bollywood but people couldn`t see beyond his choice of clothes. Deepika, you lucked out.”

Dhurandhar franchise earns Rs 3,000 crore
