Punjab Kings are slowly developing the reputation as one of the big-hitting sides in the IPL 2026 season. And the stats don’t lie. They started with 14 sixes in their match against GT, before registering nine against CSK, 16 against SRH and nine at the Wankhede against MI.

This was followed by a massive 21 sixes in their smash show against LSG as PBKS scored 254 runs and secured a big win. It was Priyansh Arya who led the way with nine sixes, followed by Cooper Connolly with seven on the night. So what is making the PBKS batters go big in matches? Well, Shreyas Iyer seems to have the answer as he has laid down the gauntlet for his side.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, the PBKS skipper said that he has put his bat on the line with the player with most sixes winning the prize.
“I was just talking with Cooper and Priyansh about that. I told them, let us compete in this IPL who hits most sixes and they are up for it. The prize is going to be my bat. So, it doesn’t make sense. So, at the end of the day, if they keep performing and the team keeps performing, I am happy,” said Shreyas.
Currently, Priyansh leads the way with 20 sixes to his name, followed by Connolly and Shreyas tied at 14 and then followed by Prabhsimran Singh with 11.
‘JUST LET THEM BE’
On Sunday, it was Priyansh and Connolly’s partnership which delivered the killer blow for PBKS against LSG, scoring 182 runs off just 80 balls. Shreyas said that the key is to let such talented players be and allow them to go out and express themselves.
The PBKS skipper said that the team doesn’t follow a set mantra and there isn’t a lot of chatter before matches.
“I personally feel that, when you just let them be and allow them to go out there and express themselves, that’s when they do well. There is no such mantra for us. I think they have got their patterns set and every individual in the team follow their routines and they keep delivering. So, I don’t have to tell much. We talk before the game. Ricky chips in a few words, I add a few too. The boys come and they delivery in the middle,” said Shreyas.
With the win, PBKS continue to be at the top of the IPL 2026 points table and remain unbeaten after six games.
