Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 75 development projects worth more than Rs 636 crore at Swami Brahmanand Mahavidyalaya, Rath. On this occasion, a short film dedicated to the development of Hamirpur was also shown.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “This is no longer Uttar Pradesh, but those who once pushed the state into the category of BIMARU are struggling for identity today. They are now facing an identity crisis, and people reject and ignore them. After people voted for BJP and the lotus symbol in Hamirpur and Rath, many initiatives and innovations have become possible, including increased security, tap water connection to every household and expressway development.”
He appealed to the people of Bundelkhand not to allow the patrons of the mafia to come to power again. He urged them not to be divided on the basis of caste, region or language and instead promote healthy competition for the sake of development, heritage, trust and economic growth.
The Chief Minister said, “Nine years ago, Bundelkhand lacked proper connectivity. Roads were full of potholes. Women spent their lives carrying earthen pots on their heads to fetch water. Hamirpur, located at the confluence of the Yamuna and Betwa rivers, struggled for water, while its youth struggled for identity. Sand, mining and land mafias exploited the poor. Across the country, people view residents of Uttar Pradesh with suspicion. Used to watch from.”
The Chief Minister said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has been transformed over the last 12 years. Earlier in the day, lakhs of people from around 100 countries participated in Yoga Day activities. The event filled us with pride in the present and the past while instilling confidence about the future. PM Modi once again presented India’s identity to the world through the 12th International Yoga Day. He also achieved global recognition for Kumbh as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.”
The Chief Minister said, “Those doing caste-based politics used power only to benefit their families. For Prime Minister Modi, the entire population of 1.4 billion Indians is family and for the state government, the 250 crore people of Uttar Pradesh are family. When governments work honestly for public welfare, make effective policies and implement them properly, results come quickly.”
Recalling his visit to Bundelkhand after becoming the Chief Minister in 2017, CM Yogi Adityanath said, “People had highlighted the poor connectivity of the region. I had then talked about the construction of the Bundelkhand Expressway, which has now been completed. Ammunition, artillery and missiles are now being manufactured in Uttar Pradesh itself.”
Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said, ‘When the Lucknow-made BrahMos missile was launched against Pakistan, it was forced to plead for mercy.’
The Chief Minister said, “Har Ghar Jal Yojana is bringing relief to women and girls. Women self-help groups are establishing themselves through initiatives like Balini Milk Producer Company, Drone Didi, Lakhpati Didi and BC Sakhi. Youth from Bundelkhand, including Mahoba, Hamirpur, Lalitpur, Jalaun and Jhansi, are now being recruited into the police force. This was not the case earlier as the schemes were made keeping only safai in mind. Today, Complete plans have been made for irrigation, drinking water, connectivity and other projects. Bundelkhand will also get excellent air connectivity with the arrival of new aircraft in the state and the start of air service from Chitrakoot.
The Chief Minister said his government has approved a bus stand for Rath and directed the transport department to expedite the project. He said a proposal from Shahjahanpur resulted in the establishment of Swami Shukdevanand State University, while a proposal supported by infrastructure and property in Bhadohi resulted in the beginning of Kashi Naresh University from the current academic session.
However, he said, “The proposal has still not been received from the management committee of Swami Brahmananda College. Submit the proposal, and we will set up a university, I said. Laws and procedures take time, but timely action will enable the government to implement the project quickly.”
He emphasized that the university should be built with a comprehensive vision, allowing colleges from other districts to affiliate with it, provide modern and technical education and support skill development for the defense manufacturing corridor through future technologies. He also stressed the need for a medical college in Hamirpur.
The Chief Minister said, “During the SP government, mafias were promoted in Bundelkhand and other districts. They grabbed lands, did illegal mining, threatened businessmen and women and even attacked the police. This tarnished the image of Bundelkhand, Hamirpur and Uttar Pradesh. There is no place for mafias in the double engine government. They are now either in jail or have been wiped out,” the Chief Minister said. He warned that anyone attempting to endanger the safety of women would have to face strict consequences.
“Major water conservation initiatives are being taken through digging and renovation of ponds,” the Chief Minister said. He appealed to the people of Bundelkhand and Hamirpur to support the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, which he described as a catalyst for transformational change. Projects including Kabrai Dam, Ratauli Dam, Bhavani Dam, Kachnauda Dam, Chilli-Majhgawan Sprinkler Irrigation Project and Ken-Betwa Link Project are being completed. He said that there will be no shortage of water for irrigation or drinking in the coming years.
The Chief Minister laid emphasis on efforts towards water conservation, cleanliness and tree plantation. He said that monsoon should have arrived by now, but it was delayed. Referring to warnings related to El Nino, he said, “There may be untimely and less rainfall in the next three years.” He urged people to conserve every drop of water. “Har Ghar Jal does not mean that taps remain open continuously,” he said and appealed to citizens not to waste water. Only the required quantity should be used, while modern irrigation methods should be adopted in agriculture.
He encouraged farmers to adopt scientific techniques that yield more with less water, thereby benefiting both present and future generations.
The Chief Minister said, “Previous governments created exploitation and identity crisis, but Bundelkhand is now contributing significantly to the country’s needs. India’s largest industrial city is being developed near Jhansi in Bundelkhand, and investment proposals have started coming in. Local youth will no longer need to migrate for employment. In the last nine years, the region has attracted investors from Hindustan Unilever, JK Cement, Rimjhim Ispat, NTPC Solar Plant, GAIL India And projects of others have been approved.”
The Chief Minister said that people have elected capable representatives, hence development projects are now taking shape. He said that one vote of the public changed the fate of Uttar Pradesh. This led to the construction of Ram Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor, Vindhyavasini Corridor in Ayodhya and the successful organization of the grand Mahakumbh. “The Congress once questioned the historicity of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, while the SP government resorted to force against those who raised ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans,” he said.
He alleged that the SP government banned Shri Krishna Janmotsav and Kanwar Yatra while promoting unruly conduct on the streets during Muharram and Eid.
The Chief Minister said that whenever MLAs present proposals related to centers of faith, the government implements them under the Tourism and Beautification Scheme. “Government money is no longer spent on constructing cemetery walls,” he said.
He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the mandate of the people for changing the fortunes of Bundelkhand. “The government is launching new initiatives in education, healthcare, irrigation, employment and other sectors,” he said.
Those present included Minister of State for Jal Shakti Ramkesh Nishad, Rajya Sabha MP Baburam Nishad, MLAs Manisha Anuragi and Dr. Manoj Prajapati, District Panchayat President Jayanti Rajput, BJP State Vice President Devesh Kori, former MP Pushpendra Singh Chandel and BJP District President Shakuntala Nishad and others.
