Exclusive | Keinemusik on India debut: The audience is more curious and open

From a tight-knit circle of friends to a globally recognised electronic music collective, Keinemusik has built its journey on instinct rather than design. As the Berlin-based band returns to India today for its one stop show in Mumbai, they are clear that their approach to performing here remains unchanged. “There’s no upfront strategy or overthinking of how to structure a setlist, it builds itself intuitively and in the moment,” share the band. Having played individually in India before, some members bring a sense of the country’s energy, but not in a way that dictates their sets.

“Some of us have played in India before and to some extent have an understanding of the vibe and the mentality and the culture of the country,” they say, adding that the process still comes down to what unfolds on the floor. Comparing regions, they point to a difference in how music is received in places where club culture is still evolving. “The audience is absorbing music with more curiosity, openness and also enthusiasm, which can lead to beautiful moments on a dance floor.”

Formed in 2009, the collective insists there was never a larger plan behind what they were building. “There was no specific moment and there was no agenda or plan,” they say. The focus, early on, was simply to “release and play music and to do it within a circle of friends and let it just be guided by intuition and not so much by the guidelines of techno business.” The pace of that growth, they add, was equally important. “The success didn’t come over night. Thank god it didn’t.”

The group, consisting of &ME (André Boadu), Rampa (Gregor Sütterlin) and Adam Port, has since expanded its sound, but maintains that it has not been shaped by outside expectations. “Above everything the releases have to feel right for ourselves, not for anybody else. In the end that’s the only way a track can resonate with other people,” they say, adding, “Once it’s constructed with an agenda or to cater towards a certain zeitgeist, it usually doesn’t work.” Working as a collective brings its own challenges, particularly when it comes to creative differences. “Compromise is part of life, also in creative processes. But so is making a convincing case of your own feeling and idea and then fighting for it within that process,” they say.

Their time in India, like most international stops, is often brief, limiting how much they can engage with the country beyond performances. “Unfortunately often times there is not enough time to fully immerse in the places where you play, especially when it comes to a culturally rich place like India with such a vast treasury of tradition and history,” they say, adding, “but still, everything leaves a mark, even a brief visit of just a couple of days.”

Why SRH turned to Ishan Kishan for captaincy: Vettori explains call amid Pat Cummins’ absence

Why SRH turned to Ishan Kishan for captaincy: Vettori explains call amid Pat Cummins’ absence

Ishan Kishan has been handed the responsibility of leading Sunrisers Hyderabad for the early part of the IPL season, with regular captain Pat Cummins set to miss the opening phase. The wicketkeeper-batter has already shown his leadership ability in domestic cricket, guiding Jharkhand to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title last season. His recent return to the Indian side has also been impressive, where he played a key role during the T20 World Cup campaign. With both form and confidence on his side, Kishan now has an opportunity to make a strong impact as a leader at the IPL level.

Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori expressed strong backing for Kishan’s leadership, highlighting his experience and his combination with Abhishek Sharma, his new deputy in the new leadership group.

“I think Ishan’s been around in the IPL for a long period of time now. He’s been with a number of teams and he’s been highly successful, so, he brings in his own confidence around that,” Vettori said in the pre-match press meet here on Friday.

“The fact that he’s led the U19s and his state team and they won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year brings a confident person, a confident player and a really confident leader and those are the attributes that we really looked at when he was appointed. His combination with Abhishek, they’re good friends, they know the team exceptionally well and I really feel like those two will lead from the front this season,” he added.

Kishan joined SRH last season, but the franchise had invested INR 11.25 crore in him. His first campaign was a mixed one, as he managed 354 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 152.58, with a century and a half-century highlighting his performances.

“Ishan Kishan brought energy to SRH last season”

Vettori further explained the reasoning behind Kishan’s elevation to a leadership role, pointing to his impact within the group last season and his impressive domestic captaincy record.

“I think he started last year where he was added a senior player to the group and the leadership that he exuded throughout that first season, particularly in the back half when he took over the wicketkeeping, it really brought energy to the group and set up our back half of the year and we were pretty successful in that period. So when Pat (Cummins) was unfortunately out of the initial stage of the tournament, we had some decisions to make and his (Kishan’s) experience with his state team in particular had been so impressive and then he was in really good form. So, between Abhishek and himself, we feel like we’ve got a really good leadership group to lead us this year,” Vettori said.

‘Ranveer Singh deserves a National Award for Dhurandhar, Aditya Dhar too,’ says Bhushan Kumar
As Dhurandhar and its sequel continue to dominate both box office and conversations, producer Bhushan Kumar has weighed in on the film’s impact — strongly backing Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar for National Awards. Bhushan Kumar emphasised that while Ranveer’s performance stands out, director Aditya Dhar played a crucial role in elevating it.

As Dhurandhar and its sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge continue to dominate both box office and conversations, producer Bhushan Kumar has weighed in on the film’s impact — strongly backing Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar for National Awards.

‘Ranveer Singh 100% deserves a National Award’

In a recent interaction with Faridoon Shahryar, Bhushan Kumar didn’t hold back in praising the film’s lead star.“100%. And not just Ranveer Singh — many people deserve it. Aditya as well — superb,” he said, when asked if the actor deserves a National Award for his performance. He also spoke about Ranveer’s standout emotional moments in the film, particularly scenes that have left audiences deeply moved.“Ranveer Singh is a very intense performer… a flawless actor. The way he expresses emotions through his eyes — it’s powerful. He’s extremely passionate and dedicated,” Bhushan added.

Credits Aditya Dhar for extracting ‘next-level’ performance

Bhushan Kumar emphasised that while Ranveer’s performance stands out, director Aditya Dhar played a crucial role in elevating it.“A performer needs someone who can extract that emotion, someone who can bring it out and say, ‘Yes, this is brilliant.’ That combination of Ranveer and Aditya Dhar is superb,” he said.He further revealed that the actor had been waiting for a role that could tap into his inner intensity.“He always had that fire within him and wanted someone to bring it out. I’m very happy for him — the way he has performed in both parts is fabulous,” he shared.

‘Dhurandhar is a win for the industry’

Calling the film’s success important for the industry, Bhushan Kumar said such big hits help bring audiences back to theatres.“It’s very good for the industry. A film like this becoming such a big hit creates the urge among people to go to theatres,” he noted. However, he also acknowledged the pressure it creates.“Now people will expect that level of quality. Obviously, every film cannot be Dhurandhar, but it pushes everyone to think bigger,” he said.

‘You can’t copy success, audience is smart’

Bhushan also spoke about how Dhurandhar has inspired filmmakers but warned against imitation.“You cannot copy a successful film. After Animal, people tried to copy its elements, but that doesn’t work. Every film has its own world — Animal is different, Dhurandhar is different,” he explained.“The audience is very smart. They immediately catch if something is copied. Makers need to reimagine and do things the right way,” he added.

NEW DELHI: Veteran Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has launched a sharp critique of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), placing the Indian Premier League well above Pakistan’s premier T20 competition. Shehzad pointed out how several overseas players continue to commit to the PSL but eventually opt for the IPL when better offers come their way – a trend he believes is hurting Pakistan’s premier T20 competition.

IPL 2026: Mukesh Kumar on Shami’s influence & India comeback plans

“Ek taraf duniya ki sabse powerful, ameer league IPL hai, aur doosri taraf Pakistan Super League – PSL. Aaj baat karte hain ki kyun bahut saare players PSL ke saath contract hone ke bawajood IPL mein khelte hue nazar aate hain. Players commitment dete hain ki woh PSL mein khelenge, lekin baad mein kai dafa dekha gaya hai ki wahi players IPL choose kar lete hain. Is par baat karni zaroori hai. PSL ka graph kahan ja raha hai, pehle kahan tha, kitni tezi se upar gaya aur phir kitni tezi se neeche aaya – yeh sab bhi discuss hoga. [On one side, there is the IPL – the most powerful and richest league in the world – and on the other side is the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Today, let’s discuss why many players, despite having PSL contracts, end up playing in the IPL]” Shehzad said.Shehzad, who played 13 Tests, 81 ODIs and 59 T20Is for Pakistan between 2009 and 2019, stressed that the issue goes beyond just league dynamics and directly impacts Pakistan cricket as a whole.“Kyuki yeh matter karta hai. Pakistan ki team bhi isi system par depend karti hai. Isliye is par baat karna zaroori hai – kyuki mulk ka maamla hai. Phir stadium ke andar players ki kya soch hoti hai? Kya woh sach mein khelna chahte hain ya nahi? Kya unhe sirf financial benefit mil raha hai ya aur bhi kuch fayda hai? [Because this matters. Pakistan’s national team depends on this system. So this discussion is necessary – it’s about the country. What is the mindset of players inside the stadium? Do they really want to play in the PSL? Do they benefit beyond just financial gains? ]”The former Pakistan batter also gave multiple examples of high-profile withdrawals, including Dasun Shanaka and Azmatullah Omarzai.“Har dafa ki tarah, is baar bhi lagbhag 45 bade naamon ne PSL ke liye commitment diya, lekin woh aaye hi nahi. Aap Dasun Shanaka ko dekh lijiye – Sri Lanka aur Pakistan ke relations acche hone ke bawajood, unhe IPL se better offer mila aur woh udhar chale gaye. Phir Azmatullah Omarzai jaise players, jo kisi bhi team ke liye asset hote, woh bhi chale gaye. South African players ne bhi commitment diya, lekin baad mein pull out kar gaye. Abhi bhi kai players hain jinke upar question mark hai – aayenge ya nahi. [Like every year, around 45 big-name players committed to the PSL this time as well, but many didn’t show up. Take Dasun Shanaka for example — despite strong cricketing ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, he chose the IPL after receiving a better offer. Players like Azmatullah Omarzai, who could have been key assets, also opted out. South African players too pulled out after committing. Even now, there are several players whose participation remains uncertain].”According to Shehzad, the PSL’s declining trajectory is closely linked to the expanding global footprint of the IPL and its franchise ecosystem.“Yahi wajah hai ki PSL ka graph neeche ja raha hai. Competition bahut zyada badh gaya hai. IPL ab sirf India tak limited nahi hai. Indian franchise owners ne duniya bhar ki leagues mein apni jagah bana li hai. Har league mein unki teams hain. Itna hi nahi, kuch players ne paison ke chalte international cricket se retirement tak le liya, taaki woh franchise leagues ke liye loyal reh sakein. Aap Nicholas Pooran ko dekhiye, Kieron Pollard ko dekhiye, Andre Russell – yeh sab isi trend ka hissa hain. Aur Jos Buttler jaise players bhi ab zyada tar franchise cricket par focus karte nazar aate hain. [This is exactly why PSL’s graph is declining. Competition has increased significantly. The IPL is no longer limited to India – Indian franchise owners now have stakes in leagues across the world. In fact, some players have even retired from international cricket to stay loyal to franchise leagues due to financial incentives. Players like Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell have followed this path, and even Jos Buttler is increasingly focused on franchise cricket].”

Aneet Padda`s sister calls Dhurandhar, The Kerala Story a propaganda film

Actress Aneet Padda rose to fame with the 2025 film Saiyaara. Now, her sister Reet has been drawing attention on social media for her strong opinions on films like Dhurandhar 2, The Kerala Story, and The Kashmir Files. She also shared her views on Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ viral Oscars moment.

Aneet Padda`s sister on why she considers Dhurandhar 2 a propaganda

Reet was responding to a comment on her post that called her out for labelling films like Dhurandhar 2, The Kerala Story, and The Kashmir Files as propaganda. The user also questioned her criticism of Priyanka Chopra for not reacting when her co-presenter at the Oscars stood up for Palestine.

“Look at me actually responding to a comment on social media, shocking, I know,” Reet wrote. “Normally, I don’t bother, because trying to change someone’s mind here is like trying to teach cats calculus. But since you’ve invested time reacting to everything I’ve reposted, let’s go point by point.”

Reet went on to explain her stance in detail. “First, about calling films like The Kashmir Files, The Kerala Story, and Dhurandhar propaganda. Dhurandhar serves as a government-friendly narrative, using political speeches to justify events like demonetisation. Call it propaganda? Yes. Deny it? Not a chance,” she said.

She further added, “As for The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story, the films seem to rely on exaggerated numbers. Claims like ‘32,000 women converted’ contrast sharply with documented cases. That’s how propaganda works, take a sliver of truth and amplify it into a larger narrative against a community. Meanwhile, films like Punjab ’95, which tackle political issues but don’t align with the ruling narrative, struggle to get released.”

Reet on Priyanka Chopra`s silence at Oscars

Responding to criticism of her remarks on Priyanka Chopra, Reet said, “Priyanka had a chance to oppose an illegal war while standing next to someone taking a stand, and she couldn’t even clap. If my sister gets such an opportunity, I hope she rises to the occasion. If she doesn’t, I will be the first to call it out.”

In conclusion, she wrote, “I do not discriminate against individuals. However, I strongly oppose political figures who bring religion into politics, especially when it leads to violence. That is a crime, and I will speak against it. I am not afraid to take a stand, even if it goes against the majority.”

Aakash Chopra picks Virat Kohli over Rohit Sharma to have a big season with bat

The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick off from March 28.

Ahead of the league, former Team India cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli will have a big season among the star players.

Speaking about Kohli, the former cricketer explained the reason behind why he picked the right-handed batsman to have a stellar run in the tournament.

“The focus will be on Virat Kohli again because the guy is so fit. The kind of fitness that he has achieved over a period of time makes him the best suited, also because he is an opener. The same is true for Rohit Sharma as well, but between the two of them, I still feel Virat Kohli has it a little easier just because of himself. That is the price he has to pay for the kind of fitness and legacy he has built,” he said on JioStar.

He also feels Rohit should continue to bat in the same aggressive fashion, as there will be players such as Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Kumar and others waiting in the Mumbai Indians` (MI) dugout.

“When you are part of the batting order that the Mumbai Indians have, it is mandatory to set the tone for Rohit Sharma. Rohit does want to bat a certain way. He has already made his opinion very public. But if you are part of a setup where there is Quinton de Kock at the other end, followed by Tilak, Surya, Hardik, Will Jacks or Sherfane Rutherford, and then Naman Dhir, what else is the option? You need to maximise the 20 overs, which basically means maximising the first six overs,” said Chopra.

“So, yes, Rohit would be expected to bat the same way, see the ball, hit the ball; that is what I am thinking for the entire Mumbai Indians setup, unless the pitch is asking you to play a slightly different brand of cricket,” he added.

IPL 2026, Opening match: Date and venue

The first match of the tournament is scheduled to be played between the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 28 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Varun Dhawan reveals daughter Lara was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip, couldn't walk properly

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan and his wife Natasha Dalal embraced parenthood when they welcomed their daughter, Lara, in 2024. In a recent episode of Be A Man, Yaar!, Varun revealed that his daughter was diagnosed with DDH (Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip), because of which she could not walk or run properly. He shared that she underwent a procedure and is now recovering.

Varun Dhawan talks about his daughter being diagnosed with DDH

Varun revealed that when Lara was 1.5 years old, she was diagnosed with DDH. He said, “My daughter was diagnosed with DDH, in which the hip slips out of the hip socket. Ek pair lamba chota hojaata hai jiski wajah se walk tedi hojaati hai (One leg becomes shorter than the other, which causes an uneven limp while walking). You can’t walk or run properly.”

He added, “You get Arthritis early, slip disc early. West main iska bahut accha treatement hota hai birth pe hi India main har jagah nahi hai itna. But yahan bhi bahut acche doctors hai jo iska care karte hain (In the West, this condition is treated very well from birth itself. In India, that level of treatment is not available everywhere yet. But there are also many excellent doctors here who take care of it). She didn’t need to do a surgery. With one procedure they could put the hip back. But she had to be in a spica cast. That means she had to be in cast for 2.5 months. Which is extremely difficult. To put her in anaesthesia and then she woke up in a cast. Now the cast is out. I want to write a book on it.”

He also urged parents to pay close attention to their children’s movements and consult a paediatrician if they suspect anything unusual in the early years of their child’s development. Varun further urged fans not to look at him with sympathy, adding that he chose to share this because not many people in India are aware of the condition. He said he wanted to spread awareness, especially since it is curable if diagnosed early in a baby’s development.

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a condition that affects the way a baby’s hip joint forms. Sometimes, it begins before birth, while in other cases it develops after birth as the child grows. It can affect one hip or both.

About Lara Dhawan

Varun and Natasha got married in a low-key wedding ceremony in 2021. Natasha gave birth to their baby girl on 3 June at a Mumbai hospital. The actor took to Instagram to share the news of his daughter’s arrival. Varun captioned the post, “Our baby girl is here, Thank u for all the good wishes for the mama and the baby”.

Varun has also revealed that becoming a girl dad has softened him, and that he is willing to do anything and everything his daughter wants him to do.
