According to Mid-Day, director Gurmmeet Singh has mounted a dance number for ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ that draws from the energy of the iconic ‘Sholay’ track. The report says Sonal Chauhan leads the sequence, while Pankaj Tripathi’s Kaleen bhaiyya and other key characters join the action as the song unfolds in a rustic setting.The report says an insider revealed, “Sonal Chauhan has performed the item song against a desert backdrop.” It adds, “The mood is such that Kaleen bhaiyya and the other characters are having fun at a rural bar where she is shaking a leg, and eventually they all join in the revelry.”That setting gives the number a larger-ensemble feel rather than making it a solo performance. The report also states that the team shot the song across the deserts of Jodhpur over three nights. “Tents were put up across the deserts of Jodhpur, where the song was shot over three nights,” the insider said.

Kaleen bhaiyya is rarely associated with dance, which makes Tripathi’s presence in the song especially notable.
