NEW DELHI: James Foster, who previously served as both a fielding and assistant coach for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) between 2020 and 2023, has been appointed as the new fielding coach of Chennai Super Kings ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The former England wicketkeeper-batter joins an experienced coaching group led by head coach Stephen Fleming. The support staff also includes batting coach Michael Hussey and bowling coach Eric Simmons.

Foster, 45, represented the England national cricket team between 2001 and 2009, playing seven Tests, 11 ODIs and five T20 Internationals. After retiring from playing, he moved into coaching and gained experience working with several international teams, including England and the New Zealand national cricket team.He has also been involved in franchise cricket leagues around the world. Earlier this year, Foster helped the Desert Vipers win the title in the International League T20. In addition, he serves as assistant coach of Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred.Announcing his appointment, CSK welcomed him through a social media post.“Say Yellove to our fielding coach James Foster! Former England wicketkeeper and a coach with experience across teams worldwide, he now kicks off this new chapter with the Pride,” CSK said in a social media post.Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are preparing for the new IPL season. They will begin their campaign with an away match against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30. After that, the team will return home to take on Punjab Kings on April 4.

Jannat, born in Mumbai, works in television shows and films. She is best known for portraying Kashi in Kashi – Ab Na Rahe Tera Kagaz Kora, Phulwa in Phulwa, and Pankti in Tu Aashiqui. In 2022, she participated in Colours TV’s stunt-based show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 12, where she finished in fourth place.

With uncertainty surrounding the availability of Pat Cummins for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad have reportedly identified Ishan Kishan as the frontrunner to lead the side.

According to a report in The Times of India, the franchise management has already discussed the matter internally and sees Kishan as the most capable option to captain the team if Cummins is unavailable.

The Australian fast bowler has been dealing with a lumbar stress back injury since July 2025 and has managed just one appearance — during the home The Ashes series last December — in the past eight months. The injury also forced him to miss Australia’s campaign in the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

Kishan joined SRH ahead of the 2025 IPL season for INR 11.25 crore and scored 354 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 152.58, including a century and a fifty.

Overall, the India star is a veteran of 119 IPL matches across three franchises. He has scored 2,998 runs in 112 innings at a strike rate of 137.64, with one century and 17 half-centuries.

Kishan will head into the IPL 2026 campaign riding high on his recent exploits in T20Is for India. Earlier this year, he returned to the national side after selectors moved away from their Shubman Gill plan for the World Cup, bringing Kishan in as a reserve wicketkeeper.

The left-hander made an immediate impact at No. 3, including a century in the home series against New Zealand, which helped him secure a place in the starting XI for the World Cup.

Kishan eventually finished as India’s second-highest run-getter in the victorious campaign, scoring 317 runs in nine innings at an average of 35.22 and a strike rate of 193. He struck three half-centuries during the tournament, including one in the final.

Adani Total Gas Ltd., a joint venture of India’s Adani Group and Total Energies SA of France, has cut prices for excess natural gas supplied to industrial clients, signalling some reprieve from the energy crisis brought on by the Iran war.

Starting at 6:00 am on 16 March, the rate for gas consumed beyond contracted limits will drop to ₹82.95 per standard cubic metre, down nearly 31% from the previous high of ₹119.90. The move comes as upstream prices soften, allowing the utility to pass on savings to a sector hit hard by recent supply curbs.

Navigating the Strait of Hormuz crisis

The price adjustment is a direct response to the supply chain shocks rippling through the Indian energy market. Following maritime disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz—a critical chokepoint for global LNG—Adani Total Gas had previously forced industrial and commercial users to slash consumption to 40% of their contracted volumes.

While the “excess gas” price is being lowered, the company noted that:

  • Prices for the initial 40% threshold remain unchanged.
  • Prices for CNG and PNG remain frozen, shielding retail consumers from the worst of the price swings.

Roughly 70% of Adani Total Gas’ volume is sourced domestically, which prioritises households and vehicles, while the rest 30% relies on LNG imports. That goes to industrial users.

Strategic Rebalancing

In a communication to customers, Adani Total Gas stated the revision aims to maintain “system integrity and equitable distribution” during the prevailing disruption. The company is also seeking clarity from state-run GAIL (India) Ltd. regarding an 80% supply mandate for industrial customers under existing government orders.

The Indian government has recently rejigged gas allocations, prioritising the city gas distribution network and pooling imported LNG prices to mitigate the impact of the West Asia crisis.

“We are making every possible effort to ensure uninterrupted gas supplies while managing supply challenges and protecting consumer interests across segments,” the company said.

The reduction provides a much-needed margin cushion for energy-intensive industries in India, even as the broader energy market remains on edge due to ongoing naval instability in the Gulf.

NEW DELHI: Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has praised the India national cricket team after their dominant victory in the T20 World Cup 2026, calling the current Indian side one of the strongest T20 teams ever. India secured their third T20 World Cup title with a convincing 96-run win over the New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ponting praises India’s depth and consistency

Ponting highlighted India’s impressive performances in recent ICC tournaments and their strong record in white-ball cricket. According to him, the team’s combination of talent, experience and depth makes them extremely difficult to beat.“It’s really hard to argue a point against that. If you look at this, not just the T20I team but their white-ball record in ICC events over the last five or six years, it’s quite remarkable,” Ponting said on International Cricket Council’s The ICC Review.“A lot of people probably identified before this tournament started the depth and the strength that this current Indian team had, and also the experience that they have.“This is a very, very strong Indian white-ball team, not just a T20 team. Back-to-back World Cups, hats off to them.”

Experience and IPL influence

The former Australian captain believes the players’ experience from both international cricket and the Indian Premier League has helped them handle pressure situations better.“The one thing that’s probably overlooked with this current team is the amount of experience and the amount of cricket a lot of these guys have played, whether it’s international cricket or even just the IPL,” said Ponting, who is also head coach of Punjab Kings.“The IPL games are every bit as big as international games anyway, so this Indian team came in well primed with great balance and a great squad.”

Learning from a rare defeat

India had suffered a defeat against the South Africa national cricket team during the Super Eight stage, but Ponting felt the loss actually helped the team refocus.“You win 12 matches on the trot, there’s bound to be an off day. And I am glad it’s come early. It might just be the shake-up India needed,” he said. “They would have learned from that experience and won’t take things for granted.”After that loss, India bounced back strongly with powerful batting displays, scoring over 250 runs in three matches, including the semifinal and the final.“Maybe it just allowed them to regroup, get together and talk about the things that are important to them as a team,” Ponting added. “They solidified what they felt was their strongest playing XI and didn’t make many changes at the back end of the tournament.”

In a video shared by X (formerly Twitter) user Matt Wallace, Teyana was heard saying, “You’re a man putting your hands on a female.” Following that, she repeatedly called the man “very rude.” She then told a person next to her, “He literally shoved me…Everybody’s having a good time. But when you shove me, it’s a different story. Do not touch me, do not shove me.”

Reacting to the video, a person said, “She was only being cautious… but why will the man touch her without consent?” A comment read, “If someone says they were touched without consent, that’s usually the part worth focusing on.” A tweet read, “That’s wild! As per the report, Teyana was trying to return to the stage alongside Pam Abdi when a security guard attempted to stop them from going up the stairs. The guard, reportedly, used his body to block Teyana and put his hands on her, trying to physically hold her back and push her away from the stage to prevent her from getting past him.

Speaking with TMZ after the incident, Teyana said, “Security was just doing a lot. There’s always that one, but I’m perfectly fine. I’m happy. There’s nothing to wonder. Ahead of the league, Chennai Super Kings` (CSK) newly added player Sanju Samson revealed conducting a conversation with legendary MS Dhoni. He also sees playing alongside Dhoni as an opportunity to learn from him.

“I have spoken to Mahi bhai (Dhoni) over the phone and interacted with him, but playing with him as part of a team will be great. I see it as an opportunity to learn from him,” he said.

Samson then said that he will not let his emotions take over when he takes the field against his former side, the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

“(I am) looking forward to playing for CSK, I feel grateful for the love and attention I have been getting from fans. This is the first time I will play against Rajasthan Royals, but I don`t let emotions rule me on the field. I left Rajasthan Royals because I felt my time in the team was over. Even if we come up against them now, I will play my best cricket,” said the Kerala-born cricketer.

CSK will begin its IPL 2026 campaign against RR on March 30 at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati.
