IPL 2026: CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad expresses confidence after win over KKR

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad on Tuesday said it is “coming together slowly” for Chennai Super Kings after the five-time IPL winners recorded a second consecutive win, beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs here.

Undergoing a transition, CSK came into this contest after a comprehensive 23-run win over Delhi Capitals and produced another convincing show to beat KKR and move one spot up to eighth in the points table.

“Slowly, slowly, it is starting to come together, I feel,” Gaikwad told broadcaster after the match.

“Everyone kind of knows what their role is, which overs and what lengths to bowl at. I think they are adjusting and adapting really well according to what [the] team needs.

“As I said, slowly, slowly, we are getting better and better and that is a good sign for us,” he said.

Sensex up 500 points, Nifty 50 nears 24,400 on hopes of Iran-US peace talks| Business News

India’s stock market rose at the opening bell today, extending its rally to a second straight trading session, as hopes of an early end to the Iran war cooled crude oil prices. Still, the Strait of Hormuz remained a key risk.

The 30-share S&P BSE Sensex rose 0.73%, or 566.32 points, to 78,677.60 points even as the wider NSE Nifty 50 gained 0.64% to 24,385.20 points.

The equity benchmarks rose 1.6% each on Wednesday to hit a one-month high after the US said talks with Iran could resume soon in Pakistan.

“The message from the crude market and the US stock market (Nasdaq, S&P 500 at record high) is that the West Asian conflict is unlikely to last long. The stock market is discounting an early end to the conflict,” V.K. Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Investments Ltd., said over email.

Brent crude slipped below $95 per barrel on Thursday after reports that Iran could consider allowing ships to pass through around the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway that carries 20% of global energy needs on a daily basis. A cheaper crude is a net positive for India, the world’s third-largest oil importer, as it helps ease the import bill, inflation, and pressure on corporate margins. The ongoing Iran war had pushed oil prices to as high as $120 per barrel.

Back home, foreign investors, who have been aggressive sellers of Indian stocks amid the Iran war, bought ₹666 crore worth of shares on Wednesday, as per provisional data. This will be their second session of net buying in India since the conflict began in late February.

Local investors are also monitoring the earnings season, with Wipro Ltd. and HDFC Life Insurance Co. Ltd. scheduled to report their fourth-quarter results Thursday.

Stocks To Watch Today

  • HDB Financial Services Ltd. reports a 41.4% rise in fourth-quarter profit, driven by margin expansion, improving asset quality and growth in its consumer finance portfolio.
  • ICICI Lombard General Insurance posts a 7% rise in Q4 profit as stronger premiums from its retail health and motor segments cushioned the impact from higher claims payouts.
  • Brigade Enterprises Ltd. signs joint development agreement for a residential township project in Bengaluru, with an estimated gross development value of ₹7,200 crore.

Exclusive! Anjuman Saxena recalls how Rishi Kapoor worked despite cancer battle

The recent web series Chiraiya has sparked serious conversations regarding sexual harassment, marital rape, and consent in arranged marriages. Actress Anjuman Saxena, who essays the role of Prasanna Bisht’s mother, reveals how she was taken aback during the narration. She also reflects on her career choices, working with Rishi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, and leaving music.

Anjuman Saxena on Chiraiya

Revealing how she was taken aback by the subject, Anjuman asserts how issues like the casting couch and sexual harassment exist beyond the film industry. “When I heard it for the first time, I was a little taken aback. It suddenly hit me that this is how things have always been taken for granted. This is not just about the film industry; it applies to every industry. You will see these kinds of issues happening everywhere.”

However, things are beginning to change, with POSH training now becoming essential in every organization, and even on film sets. She explains, “There is always a dedicated POSH team present during shoots. This ensures that anyone, whether a woman or a man, can easily approach them and raise a complaint if something is going wrong.”

Anjuman Saxena on leaving music

Beyond acting, Anjuman is also a trained Hindustani classical vocalist and a respected music industry professional. However, she left her passion behind as she could not cope with the digital transition.

“Leaving music was tough because it has always been my first love. However, I was no longer finding my space there due to the transition from the physical to the digital world. Fortunately, for more than a year now, I have returned to music along with acting, so I can say that I am enjoying the best of both worlds.”

She added, “I do come across lyrics that have no real meaning, and especially in many item numbers, some lines seem to go beyond what is appropriate and should not be there. Those are the kinds of things I do not approve of. However, I would also say that this is a very good time for many newcomers to create their own original music.”

Working with Rishi Kapoor

Anjuman shared screen space with Rishi Kapoor in his last film, Sharmaji Namkeen. She shared how the actor was dedicated to his work amid his battle with cancer.

“At that time, Rishiji had just recovered but was still recuperating, so he was not in the best of health. However, his dedication to his work, even then, was truly remarkable. The best part was that he would not simply go off to rest; instead, he would sit with all of us in one room. We would spend time together, and he would often engage in conversations. He was never aloof.

Seeing that level of dedication was incredibly encouraging. It motivated me to work harder and do better. Although we had only a very short duration to shoot with him, and what happened during the shoot was truly unfortunate, those few days we spent together will remain a cherished memory for life.”

Anjuman Saxena on star kids

The actress, who has shared screen space with actors like Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Varun Dhawan, admits that they are scrutinized more and that everybody wants to poke them.

Reacting to the trolling Varun is facing for his acting and family background, she shared, “David Dhawan did not really produce a film for Varun Dhawan or launch him. Varun worked his way up, assisted in the AD team, and only after that did he begin acting. He went on to do Student of the Year and many other projects. Ultimately, everyone has to work hard. I have seen how dedicated they are and the effort they put into their work.”

She also heaped praise on Alia Bhatt and said, “I love her work. I loved her in Gangubai Kathiawadi and her role in Udta Punjab. She has turned out to be an amazing actor. The way she has portrayed her characters in films like Dear Zindagi is remarkable. These are the movies I remember her for because I like her.”

Pat Cummins cleared by Cricket Australia for IPL return; SRH captain set to play against RR

MUMBAI: Sunrisers Hyderabad have received a boost after their 57-run win over Rajasthan Royals, with captain Pat Cummins set to rejoin the squad after recovering from a back injury. On Thursday, a report on the Cricket Australia website mentioned, “Fresh scans on his back have cleared the way for Pat Cummins to return to action at the IPL. Cummins has been given the all-clear to resume bowling without restrictions following fresh scans on his back in Sydney, paving the way for his return to action at the IPL.“Cummins’ latest set of scans on Wednesday confirmed the back stress issue that limited him to a single match of professional cricket since last August has now resolved.“The Aussie pace spearhead will now return to India on Friday to link up with his Australia teammate Travis Head at the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise for the remainder of this year’s IPL. Cummins’ latest set of scans on Wednesday confirmed the back stress issue that limited him to a single match of professional cricket since last August has now resolved.”Cummins is expected to rejoin the team in the next few days but will not play immediately. The seasoned fast bowler will turn out for SRH against the Rajasthan Royals on April 25. “While Sunrisers will play home matches against Chennai Super Kings this weekend and against the Delhi Capitals next Wednesday, Cummins’ cautious approach to returning has him targeting the April 25 match against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur for his return to the playing XI,” the CA report mentions.Cummins is expected to take over captaincy duties at SRH from India’s keeper-bat Ishan Kishan, who has led the side so far in the absence of Cummins. The Hyderabad-based side is currently in fourth place in the IPL points table, with 2 wins.Cummins’ return is on track with his carefully managed plan to play the second half of the IPL, which may include the playoffs, ahead of a hectic period of Test cricket for Australia, which could see them play up to as many as 21 Tests in the next one year.Australia’s assistant coach Dan Vettori, who is also the SRH head coach, had recently hailed the 32-year-old Cummins’ fitness as “exceptional.” “His fitness has been exceptional because he’s obviously been out of the game for an extended period of time so he’s had that time to work on that fitness, a real block of work around strength and conditioning. It’s obviously a bit of a painstaking process to get the loads up to where he feels confident and strong about bowling,” Vetori had said.Cummins had arrived in India on March 27, a day before Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and returned to Australia after their second game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 2.

American Pie star Shannon Elizabeth joins OnlyFans to avoid Hollywood ‘controlling the outcome of my career’

Shannon Elizabeth, who shot to fame as a Hollywood sex symbol after starring in the adult comedy American Pie two decades ago, is joining adult content creation platform OnlyFans. The actor has said that she is giving the controversial platform a shot to take charge of her career’s narrative herself, while also taking a jibe at the Hollywood power structure.

In a statement to Variety, Shannon’s manager Andy Bachman celebrated this step and said, “Shannon has always been someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with and giving back to her fans, and this allows her to do that in a more direct, meaningful way than ever before. It’s a powerful model, and right now, there’s nothing more effective at facilitating that connection than OnlyFans.”

OnlyFans is the leading adult content-creation platform in the world, where creators can create accounts and channels and charge users for access through paid subscriptions. The platform began for all kinds of creators but, over the years, has come to be associated largely with sex work and pornography, despite its own attempts to move away from that genre.

In an interview with People, Shannon, who was one of Hollywood’s biggest sex symbols in the 2000s, explained the move, “I’ve spent my entire career working in Hollywood, where other people controlled the narrative and the outcome of my career. This new chapter is about changing that, showing off a more sexy side no one has seen, and being closer to my fans.”

The actor added that she now wants to connect with her fans directly. “I’m choosing OnlyFans because it allows me to connect directly with my audience, create on my own terms, and just be free. I really do think this is the future,” she added.

Shannon Elizabeth’s career with American Pie and Scary Movie

Shannon, 52, shot to fame playing Nadia in American Pie (1999) and Buffy Gilmore in Scary Movie (2000). The two roles turned her into an overnight sensation. While she appeared in American Pie 2 and several other low-budget comedies, her career in Hollywood never quite took off. She was most recently seen on Celebrity Big Brother and in the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019).

The actor has joined a growing list of high-profile celebrities joining OnlyFans, including Carmen Electra, Bhad Bhabie, Mia Khalifa, and The Sopranos star Drea de Matteo. In the recent years, the platform has embarked on an effort to recruit non-porn creators, including comedian Whitney Cummings.

Parliament Special Session LIVE: What is the delimitation process and why is the opposition opposing it?

Parliament Special Session Live: The biggest point of competition around this exercise is the North vs South divide, with North India, with significant population growth, benefiting from more proportional seats, while South India – a significant contributor to GDP (about 30-31%) – is seeing its proportional seats reduced due to lower population growth rates. Southern states have repeatedly said that population alone should not be the criteria for such amendments or additions.

Vignesh Shivan reacts to ‘Jana Nayagan’ leak; director speaks about ‘LIK’ shoot and Pradeep Ranganathan’s dedication
Director Vignesh Shivan voiced deep empathy for filmmaker H. Vinoth following the ‘Jana Nayagan’ leak, calling it a director’s worst nightmare. He also discussed the mixed reception of his film ‘Love Insurance Kompany,’ praising lead actor Pradeep Ranganathan’s incredible dedication during a challenging underwater shoot.

At the Thanksgiving meet in Chennai for the film ‘Love Insurance Kompany,’ director Vignesh Shivan commented on the exponential rise in social media interactions for the stills from ‘Jana Nayagan’ featuring Vijay. The clips that surfaced online on April 10 created a massive uproar in the industry and have received significant criticism from the fans and audience.Speaking about the issue, the director expressed his support for filmmaker H. Vinoth, who is helming the film. As per Nakkheeran, Vignesh Shivan said, “Today, the situation of directors is very worrying. Such a big film has been leaked online. The one who will be hurt the most will be the director. I want to convey to my friend Vinoth how miserable I’m feeling. This is a feeling that is as painful as death. Only a director can understand it..”

‘LIK’ director explains the emotional impact of film leaks on filmmakers

Continuing his speech, Vignesh Shivan spoke about the dedication and dreams directors invest in every single shot of a film. He explained that a director spends months and sometimes years building a story visually, and such leaks can deeply affect that effort. He said, “As a director, I know how much dream and effort go into every shot filmed each day. When something like this gets released online in a way the director never intended, it causes immense pain.” The leak of ‘Jana Nayagan’ quickly became a major talking point across the industry. Several film personalities and associations condemned the act, while the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime wing reportedly arrested six people in connection with the incident.

Vignesh Shivan opens up about mixed reviews for ‘Love Insurance Kompany’

During the same event, Vignesh Shivan also addressed the response to ‘Love Insurance Kompany,’ which features Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles. The film also stars S. J. Suryah, Mysskin, and Yogi Babu in key roles. The director admitted that the film received both positive and negative feedback from audiences. He said, “The film received many positive reviews, but there were also some negative comments saying that the film feels slow. Whenever we try to say something new, it takes time for the audience to fully understand it. I still accept those criticisms. Many people think making a love story is easy, but every film is equally difficult to make.”

Director praises Pradeep Ranganathan’s commitment during a challenging underwater scene

Vignesh Shivan also shared a memorable moment from the film’s shoot that showed the dedication of Pradeep Ranganathan. According to the director, one particular sequence required the actor to stay underwater for nearly one and a half minutes while performing. He revealed that the scene was filmed through the night and was physically demanding. Vignesh Shivan said, “In one scene, Pradeep had to hold his breath underwater for nearly one and a half minutes while acting. He kept doing it the entire night for the shoot. I even tried to attempt it myself, but I immediately came out because I got scared for my life. But Pradeep performed it without asking any questions.” Encouraging the actor, the director added, “Bro, this film will also enter the Rs 100 crore club. Be confident, success is certain.”

'Curry boy' Vikas Khanna beams on being in TIME 100 list: 'They use the word as derogatory terms, I use it with pride'

It is a testament to his growing popularity and influence globally that chef Vikas Khanna has been named by TIME Magazine in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The Indian chef cannot be happier that ‘curry boy’, once a pejorative, is now a badge of honour.

Speaking with PTI from New York, the celebrity chef called the honour ‘a very big moment for India’. Vikas Khanna was included in the list among visionaries in fashion, visual, literary, and culinary arts, alongside names like Ralph Lauren and Victoria Beckham. The list of 100 also includes actor Ranbir Kapoor, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, US President Donald Trump, world’s richest man Elon Musk, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Vikas Khanna on making it to the TIME 100

While the list was made public on Wednesday, Vikas Khanna found out about it on March 23, the birthday of his late sister, Radhika Khanna.

“I felt that my sister is still fighting for me from up there. For them to pick up what they call us here, a curry boy and put it in the highest respected list in the world, this is a big deal,” he said.

The word curry has often been used in the West as a derogatory term, often as a slur for South Asians. Vikas Khanna added that now, it has become associated with pride and honour. “They use the word curry in derogatory terms, but I use it with pride. I feel that it’s something which our grandmothers fed us, and our body and brain functions on that. And today, most of the Indians are running the entire world. I have so many relatives here. All the kids would make fun of them or say this is smelling of curry. And now a curry boy gets to be on the stage where just a few selected people on the planet have walked,” the 54-year-old said.

Vikas Khanna runs a restaurant named Bungalow. In his profile for TIME, chef Eric Ripert called it a ‘a living expression of storytelling’. The award-winning chef wrote, “He carries his culture with immense pride, sharing the richness of Indian traditions while making them accessible and meaningful to a global audience.” Before Bungalow, Khanna ran Junoon in New York.

Vikas Khanna’s work in entertainment

The chef currently serves as a judge on MasterChef India. Apart from his culinary skills, he also made a Hindi film, The Last Colour, with Neena Gupta. Up next for him is another film, Imaginary Rain, about a New York chef. It stars Shabana Azmi and Prateek Babbar and has music by A R Rahman.
