‘I blame the COVID vaccine’: Shane Warne’s son makes shocking claim on father’s death
Four years after Shane Warne’s sudden death, his son Jackson Warne has suggested COVID-19 vaccines may have contributed, while acknowledging underlying health issues. Speaking on a podcast, he recalled his initial anger and belief that external pressures led to multiple doses, revisiting the circumstances surrounding the spin legend’s passing.

Four years after the sudden passing of Shane Warne, fresh comments from his son Jackson Warne have reignited discussion around the circumstances of the spin legend’s death. Warne, who died in Thailand in 2022 at the age of 52 following a heart attack, had left the cricketing world stunned with his unexpected demise. Speaking on the ‘2 Worlds Collide’ podcast, Jackson shared his belief that COVID-19 vaccinations may have played a role, while also acknowledging that his father had underlying health concerns. “I definitely think that it (COVID vaccine) was involved. I don’t even think saying that is controversial anymore. Even if dad had underlying health issues, I think this brought it out right to the surface and that’s one thing that I’ve always struggled with,” Jackson said. He also revealed his immediate reaction upon hearing the news of Warne’s passing. “My first impression, as soon as I hung up the phone (after receiving the news of Warne’s death), I instantly blamed the government. I instantly blamed COVID and the vaccine.” Jackson admitted that he considered expressing these views publicly during the memorial service but ultimately chose not to. “It was probably smart I didn’t, I would be in a very different position if I did. But that was how I felt,” Jackson said. Reflecting further, he claimed that his father had taken multiple vaccine doses despite being reluctant, suggesting external pressures influenced the decision. “Yes, a lot of people were dying of heart attacks before. But dad was okay, I think he might have got three or four (vaccine doses), he didn’t want to get them, he was forced to get them for work. He was forced to get them like everybody else,” he asserted. Jackson also spoke about how he copes with these thoughts now. “…I try not to think about it too much because all that does is fester into anger. That anger is not good for anybody,” he added. Providing insight into Warne’s lifestyle, he described his father as being in a relatively good place physically and mentally despite some well-known habits. “Dad, at the time, was healthy, he was happy. He looked the best he had in a while. Yes, he smoked and drank, but so many more people in their 80s and 90s still smoke and drink a lot more than dad,” he said. Warne had tested positive for COVID-19 a few months prior to his death during his involvement with The Hundred in England in 2021. However, there had been no widely known serious medical condition at the time, making his sudden passing all the more shocking.

Rashmika Mandanna rejected bridal glam, got ready for wedding with Vijay Deverakonda in just 90 minutes

Actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda got married in an intimate wedding ceremony in Udaipur in February this year. The actors’ wedding photos went viral on social media, and fans couldn’t stop gushing over how beautiful she looked. In a recent podcast with Masoom Minawala, Rashmika’s makeup artist, Tanvi Chemburkar, revealed that Rashmika got ready in just 90 minutes and opted for a minimal look rather than a traditional bridal look.

Rashmika Mandanna’s makeup artist reveals details about her wedding look

Tanvi, who has been working with Rashmika for four years now, said she did not expect Rashmika’s wedding look to go viral. She added, “When we were discussing what she wanted to do, because we keep creating so many looks, she wanted to keep it super clean. I was like, really? It’s your wedding day, don’t you want to add kohl? She was very clear that she wanted to keep it very true to how she looks. But I didn’t think at all that it would get so much appreciation, and she then said, ‘See, I told you, keeping it minimal would help.’”

Tanvi revealed that Rashmika had a vision and was very clear about her hair and make-up, and thus she had a blast working on her looks, even though it was hectic. She added, “She was radiating with so much joy. She had an event even the previous evening, so she had not slept enough. So she came cut-to-cut, and she was like, ‘Guys, you have just 40 mins to get me ready,’ but we took an hour. Overall, she took only one and a half hours to get fully ready from top to bottom. But she was so happy, even while walking down the aisle, you could see that excitement on her face, that’s why she looked the way she did.”

UP hikes minimum wages across categories amid Noida protest: What workers will now earn

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved an interim hike of around 21% in minimum wages for workers in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, following large-scale protests by thousands of factory workers in Noida. The fresh minimum wage structure introduced across worker categories, will be taking effect retrospectively from April 1. The agitation, which had been intensifying over several days, saw an estimated 40,000 to 45,000 workers assemble at nearly 80 to 83 locations across the Gautam Buddh Nagar commissionerate, including key industrial hubs such as Sector 62, Phase-2, Sector 63, Sector 60, Sector 84 and parts of Greater Noida. The revised wages were finalised by the high-powered committee and received approval late on Monday night. Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate Medha Roopam said, “The wage increase has been done by the high-powered committee… The decision was approved by CM UP late last night.”

Breakdown: Who gets what

Gautam Buddh Nagar and GhaziabadThese regions have seen the sharpest revision:

  • Unskilled workers will now be paid Rs 13,690 per month, up from Rs 11,313.
  • Semi-skilled workers will receive Rs 15,059.
  • Skilled workers will earn Rs 16,868 per month.

Other municipal corporation areas

  • The new monthly wages stand at Rs 13,006 for unskilled workers.
  • Semi-skilled workers will now earn Rs 14,306 every month.
  • Skilled workers will be paid Rs 16,025.

In other districts

  • Unskilled workers will now get Rs 12,356 per month.
  • Semi-skilled workers will earn Rs 13,591.
  • Skilled workers will see Rs 15,224 per month.

Additionally, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has urged employers to ensure timely wage payments, provide appropriate overtime compensation, and guarantee weekly offs, bonuses and social security benefits, while also maintaining safe working conditions, especially for female workersThe wage revision comes after widespread protests by factory workers in Noida on Monday, where thousands raised demands for better pay and working conditions. Clashes broke out in parts of the district during the demonstrations, after which the government set up a committee to step in and facilitate discussions between workers and employers. The government said that it had assessed all feedback and objections before finalising the revision, aiming for the “balanced and practical” outcome. As per the official statement, the committee is working to resolve the issue through dialogue and coordination while considering measures to address industries dealing with global headwinds, including rising input costs and falling exports, even as workers’ demands on wages, overtime, safety and working conditions remain “relevant and important.”It further added that an interim wage revision linked to indexation is under consideration, and that the process for final wage determination will be taken up based on recommendations of a wage board to be formed soon.At the same time, the government rejected as “fake and misleading” social media claims suggesting a uniform minimum wage of Rs 20,000 per month, clarifying that no such order has been issued and that work on fixing a national “floor wage” is still underway at the central level.

Riyan Parag all style, does nothing else in IPL: Ex-India captain tears into Rajasthan Royals skipper

Riyan Parag all style, does nothing else in IPL: Ex-India captain tears into Rajasthan Royals skipper

Former India captain Kris Srikkanth has criticised Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag, questioning his credentials and performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Srikkanth’s remarks followed Rajasthan Royals’ first defeat of the season, a 57-run loss to SunRisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on Monday, which ended their three-match winning streak. SRH vs RR: HIGHLIGHTS | SCORECARD

Despite Rajasthan Royals’ strong start to the season, Srikkanth expressed doubts about Parag’s leadership and ability to perform consistently in the IPL.

“He’s only there for style. As usual, he came out to bat, got out early, spoke in the presentation ceremony and went. It’s all about style for him. He has not done anything else,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube show.

Srikkanth also criticised Parag’s captaincy decisions, particularly the handling of the bowling attack. The former chairman of selectors found it baffling that Ravindra Jadeja, the team’s most experienced bowler, was not given a single over.

“You ask him why he (Parag) didn’t bowl Ravindra Jadeja and he says, they targeted Ravi Bishnoi and there was a left-hander in the middle. Is there some rule that a left-arm spinner can’t bowl to a left-hander? It’s absurd,” Srikkanth added.

DEBUTANT PACERS ROCK RAJASTHAN

SunRisers Hyderabad’s innings saw early setbacks, with Abhishek Sharma dismissed for a duck. However, Ishan Kishan’s 44-ball 91, supported by useful contributions from Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy, helped post a competitive total of 216.

Rajasthan Royals’ explosive batting, which had overwhelmed opponents in their first three matches, was stifled by two debutant pacers, Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain. Praful, a medium pacer from Nagpur, took three wickets, including that of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the first over, setting a new IPL record. In his second over, he dismissed Riyan Parag for a duck, reducing Rajasthan Royals to 9 for 5. Sakib Hussain continued the pressure by removing Yaashavi Jaiswal early.

Ravindra Jadeja and Donnovan Ferreira attempted to stabilise the innings, but the early collapse proved too severe. Sakib Hussain produced a strong spell in the middle overs and claimed the crucial wicket of Ferreira, who was threatening on 69 off 44 balls, with a slower delivery.

Srikkanth praised SunRisers Hyderabad’s young bowling unit and commended Ishan Kishan’s captaincy. “Praful Hinge finished the match in the first over. Ishan Kishan’s captaincy was also very good. They had four young bowlers. With them, they bowled Rajasthan Royals out. Superb,” he said.

With a boost in confidence, SunRisers Hyderabad will host Chennai Super Kings in their next IPL 2026 match on Saturday, April 18.

Aruna Irani breaks down recalling late Asha Bhosle, REVEALS she was in pain

Asha tai was cremated on April 13 at Shivaji Park, Dadar with full state honours. Many celebrities were in attendance to pay their last respects to the legendary singer.

Aruna Irani reveals late singer Asha Bhosle had pain in life

Undoubtedly, the singer will be deeply missed and forever remembered through her timeless songs. Meanwhile, ETimes contacted Aruna Irani, who shared some rare and deeply personal memories about the late singer. She revealed, “Asha Bhosle’s demise is a huge loss to the music industry. I have known her personally; we used to meet, talk, and share everything with each other. And I can only say one thing about her that despite having so much pain in her personal life, she behaved as if she was the happiest person on earth. ‘Unse zyada khush insaan iss duniya mein hai hi nahi. aise hamesha jatati thi sabko’. She met and greeted everyone in such a warm way.”“Words fall short when we talk about her singing… she sang all types of songs across different ranges and styles. Maradona’s childhood home becomes soup kitchen for those in need | Football News

The late Argentinian football legend’s childhood home has been converted into a soup kitchen serving those affected by President Javier Milei’s austerity measures.

At 523 Amazor street in Fiorito, a Buenos Aires suburb where the “Golden Boy” experienced extreme poverty growing up, locals can now receive meals and clothing assistance.

This neighbourhood of about 50,000 residents living in modest brick homes features numerous murals commemorating the career of the iconic number 10, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 60.

As a criminal negligence trial begins on Tuesday against the seven-member medical team responsible for Maradona’s final care following brain surgery, his childhood community continues his legacy of compassion.

Neighbours visit “Diego’s house” carrying containers that volunteers fill with chicken stew and other meals prepared in large cauldrons in the yard, while cumbia music – Maradona’s preferred genre – plays in the background.

“Diego would say there is a lot of hunger and we have to help, because the need is so great,” explained Diego Gavilan, who benefits from the kitchen’s services.

Gavilan, who collects cardboard and scrap metal, began visiting the soup kitchen after Milei implemented radical free-market reforms following his December 2023 election.

“You can’t make ends meet,” Gavilan noted.

Despite statistics showing poverty reduction under Milei, primarily due to decreasing inflation, family finances remain in crisis, according to Central Bank reports. Increased imports and plummeting consumption have resulted in more than 20,000 business closures.

Gavilan appreciates receiving assistance from Maradona’s former home: “He suffered so much hunger here as a child. For the people of the neighbourhood to receive a plate of food is special.”

The facility operates without dining accommodations. Volunteers prepare food over open fires in the yard, distributing it in bags to those waiting at the entrance.

Maradona frequently referenced his humble origins in an area without running water or paved streets. Sixty-six years after his birth, hardship remains visible on the faces of those queueing for food.

“People are going hungry,” said Maria Torres, one of the centre’s cooks, who believes Maradona would approve of his childhood home’s charitable repurposing.

`My perseverance has started to pay off`: McIlroy after second Masters in a row

Rory McIlroy overcame early stumbles and a late scare to win the Masters on Sunday, capturing his sixth major title to become only the fourth back-to-back champion at Augusta National. The world number two from Northern Ireland made a double bogey at the fourth and a bogey at the sixth, but responded with four birdies in the next seven holes and hung on after woeful late tee shots to win a second green jacket and a record top prize of $4.5 million.

McIlroy joined Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo as the only back-to-back winners in Masters history, firing a final round one-under-par 71 to finish on 12-under-par 276 and defeat top-ranked Scottie Scheffler by one stroke. A year after winning his first Masters to complete a career Grand Slam and snap a 10-year major win drought, McIlroy pulled off a wire-to-wire triumph. “I just can`t believe I waited 17 years to get one green jacket and you know I get two in a row. It`s just sort of the way,” McIlroy said.

“I think all of my perseverance at this golf tournament over the years has really started to pay off.” Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley placed the green jacket on McIlroy, a role usually reserved for the prior year`s Masters winner. McIlroy seized a 36-hole Masters record six-stroke lead only to play the weekend at level par. “It was a tough weekend. I did the bulk of my work on Thursday and Friday,” McIlroy said. “But just so, so happy to hang in there and get the job done.”

McIlroy, third-from last in driving accuracy for the week, saved par at 15 from the trees but sent his tee shot at the 18th over trees on the right to a spot near the adjacent 10th fairway. With a victory at risk, McIlroy curled a dramatic approach around the pines and into a greenside bunker, then blasted onto the green to 12 feet and two-putted for bogey to secure the triumph. “It`s nice to have that two-shot cushion instead of the one like I had last year,” said McIlroy, who needed a playoff to win in 2025. McIlroy, 36, yelled with joy and lifted his arms into the air after the triumph. He hugged daughter Poppy and wife Erica after walking off the 18th green where he embraced his parents.

`Good fight`

Scheffler, a four-time major winner seeking his third Masters victory in five seasons, was on 277 after shooting a 68 to complete a bogey-free weekend. “Over the weekend I put up a good fight, did a lot of good stuff in order to give myself a chance and ultimately came up a couple shots short,” Scheffler said. England`s Tyrrell Hatton and 45-year-old Justin Rose and Americans Russell Henley and Cameron Young shared third on 278. Rose, the 2013 US Open champion, settled for another near miss after three runner-up Masters finishes.

“I felt like there was an opportunity to do better, so obviously that`s frustrating for sure,” Rose said. Rose birdied four of the last five holes on the front nine and led on 12-under but bogeys at 11 and 12 moved McIlroy into the lead to stay. McIlroy sank a seven-foot birdie putt at the par-three 12th after an impressive tee shot, then added an 11-foot birdie putt at the par-five 13th to seize a three-stroke lead.

“I think the tee shot on 12 and then the tee shot on 13, just to give me the option to go for the green in two,” were the day`s key shots. “I made a really good committed swing off the 13th tee, and that enabled me to go for the green in two and to make a birdie there, following the birdie on 12. That was massive,” he said. Four pars and the closing bogey followed to produce McIlroy`s sixth major victory — and the champion said there could be more to come. “I`m not putting a number on it, but I certainly don`t want to stop here,” he said.

Bhosle, who died on Sunday at the age of 92, was the voice behind several songs featuring the actor, including “Dum Maro Dum” from the 1971 film “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”, “Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahaani” from “The Great Gambler” and “Meri Soni Meri Tamanna” from “Yaadon Ki Baaraat” , among others.

Aman paid tribute to the late singer with a picture on Instagram on Monday. The actor said Bhosle, who famously sang “Chura Liya Hai Tumne” and “Dum Maaro Dum” for her movies, was a voice that captivated generations.

“I am grieving the loss of a legendary talent today. Asha ji’s was a voice that captivated generations, and it was my supreme privilege that she sang so many of the film songs picturised on me. ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Chura Liya’, ‘Do Lafzon Ki’, ‘Meri Soni Meri Tamanna’, ‘Khatouba’… the list goes on.

“One could perhaps say, Asha ji gifted me the soundtrack to my success! How many hours I have spent with her voice in my ears and how much love I have received for lip-syncing along,” she wrote.

Aman praised Bhosle’s dedication to her craft and recalled an incident when both had to attend an event in Kolkata. The actor said Bhosle arrived at the location covered in bruises as she had been in an accident a day prior, but nothing stopped her from performing on stage.

The incident left Aman “impressed and inspired” by the late singer.

“My own association with Asha ji was long and warmly cordial. While she was always very affectionate when we met, I truly got an insight to her character about a decade ago. We were both due to appear at a musical evening in Kolkata, and when Ashaji arrived, I was horrified to see that she was covered in bruises and nicks,” she said.

“It turned out that she had been in an accident the previous day, but was determined to keep her professional commitment! Lo and behold, she took the stage by storm and kept the giddy audience in her thrall for many hours. Mind you, Asha ji was well into her 80s by this point, and it’s safe to say I left the event both impressed and inspired. So thank you, Asha ji, for the music and the grace. Your voice shall never fade,” she added.
