OnePlus 13 is expected to launch in China soon as a successor to the OnePlus 12. The company has officially revealed the display details of the upcoming handset previously. Now, a senior OnePlus executive has teased the phone’s key charging feature. Other expected specifications of the smartphone, including battery size, have been leaked as well. The OnePlus 13 has been tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.

OnePlus 13 Wireless Charging Support

OnePlus 13 customers will be able to purchase “wood grain phone cases” with support for “magnetic suction,” said a Weibo post by OnePlus China head Louis Lee. The post includes Lee’s conversation with another Weibo user. The “magnetic suction function” mentioned in the post suggests magnetic wireless charging support. It may support other accessories like car mounts and wallet cases, similar to Apple’s MagSafe cases.

Notably, a senior Oppo executive recently confirmed that the upcoming Oppo Find X8 series will support 50W wireless magnetic charging, as well as reverse charging capabilities.

OnePlus 13 Features (Expected)

Previous leaks suggested that the OnePlus 13 could get a 6,000mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging support. The OnePlus 12 is equipped with a 5,400mAh cell with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

OnePlus 13 is expected to get a 6.82-inch 2K 10-bit LTPO BOE X2 micro quad curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Lee previously affirmed the BOE X2 screen for the upcoming handset.

Earlier leaks also claimed that the OnePlus 13 could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset coupled with up to 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of onboard storage. For optics, it may get a triple rear camera unit, including a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom.

Apple was expected to launch AirPods Max 2 at its September event, however, that did not happen. Instead, it introduced a refreshed version of the original AirPods Max headphones with a USB Type-C port replacing the proprietary Lightning port, in line with the company’s other devices. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant does not have plans to introduce a big revamp to its over-ear headphones due to relatively low sales of the device, according to a report.

No Plans for Refreshed AirPods Max

Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman detailed the rumours surrounding Apple AirPods Max in the latest edition of the Power On newsletter. The company is said to have no plans to upgrade its over-ear headphones with additions such as improved active noise cancellation (ANC), a larger battery life, or a new chip. This is because the headphones aren’t a “hot enough seller” that investment into the development of a new version may take place. However, Apple does not have plans to shelve them as they are not a “big enough flop” either, as per the report.

Although the AirPods Max received a USB Type-C port and a fresh coat of paint with new colourways in September this year, the feature set largely remains the same. This is despite the company introducing new capabilities for its listening devices such as Adaptive Audio which is exclusive to the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) despite costing Rs. 35,000 less than its flagship over-ear headphones.

The AirPods Max also miss out on the newer H2 chip which powers the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and a conversation awareness feature available on recent AirPods models. The latter can detect when someone speaks and automatically lower the media volume.

As per Gurman, the AirPods Max are expected to be available in the market in their current form for the “foreseeable future”. Notably, AirPods Max are priced at Rs. 59,900 in India.

Warner Bros. Games has finally announced Mortal Kombat 1, a reboot and reimagining of the universe that’s been created by the Fire God Liu Kang. The fighting game is slated to release September 19 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch, and has also dropped a cinematic trailer offering glimpses at the characters’ new looks, some brutal fatalities, and new Kameo Fighters. Pre-orders grant access to the powerful sorcerer Shang Tsung, alongside beta access in August, reserved exclusively for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X players. The news comes after the game (Mortal Kombat 12) was confirmed during Warner Bros. Discovery’s quarterly earnings call, followed by franchise creator Ed Boon occasionally throwing cryptic teasers on his Twitter.

The Mortal Kombat 1 trailer opens with a voiceover from Liu Kang saying, “It is time!”, and introducing the new realm he created — an idyllic paradise of sorts, with friend Kung Lau, recognisable by his razor-brimmed hat, working as a humble farmer. Elsewhere in the world, the steel fan-wielding Kitana continues ruling the Outworld with her loyal retainer and sister-clone Mileena. While there’s no explicit mention of what caused the world to reset, we can assume it to be a result of Mortal Kombat 11’s multiple endings, one of which ensured a new and better timeline, undoing Kronika’s mistakes. Towards the end, Liu Kang had ascending into a god, the effects of which seem to carry over into MK1.

The serenity in the Mortal Kombat 1 trailer is soon broken as lead characters Scorpion and Sub-Zero discover a blood-red eclipse in the far distance — resembling the ones in the Japanese manga Berserk and FromSoftware’s Dark Souls 3. “For the storm is brewing,” Liu Kang narrates as he descendants from the skies, hoping to assist our heroes in a new battle. Of course, these relate to the Story Mode, which promises to offer ‘unexpected twists on classic rivalries and original backstories for the wide-ranging cast of legendary fighters.’ A FAQ page for MK1 reveals that a constant internet connection isn’t required to play the game, though it will be required for certain modes and features. Hopefully, the story mode stays safe.

Shang Tsung appears to be the main villain this time, emerging out of a portal as our heroes anticipate their newest threat. In the next couple of shots, we’re treated to some of his Fatality animations, as he slits throats, breaks Mileena’s neck, curb stomps Sub-Zero, and inserts his thumbs into Kitana’s eye sockets. Among the new additions in Mortal Kombat 1 are the Kameo Fighters, a unique roster of partner characters, who provide assistance during matches via team-up combos, presumably. These fighters are chosen separately from the main roster. Speaking of the main roster, Mortal Kombat 1 has confirmed Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, and Johnny Cage.

The FAQ page also reveals prices for Mortal Kombat 1, starting with $69.99 SRP (about Rs. 5,792) for the Standard Edition across all platforms — both physical and digital. Regional pricing could come into play. The Premium Edition costs $109.99 SRP (Rs. 9,102), granting early access to DLC characters, in-game currency, and a Kombat Pack containing extra characters.

And finally, there’s the Kollector’s Edition, which will be available at select retailers — physical only — for $249.99 SRP (about Rs. 20,691), containing a 16.5-inch Liu Kang sculpture, art prints, a steel case, and all the bonuses in the Premium Edition. This is exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series S/X only. Furthermore, owners of the Premium and Kollector’s Edition gain early access to Mortal Kombat 1 from September 14.
