Filmmaker Prakash Jha reveals he is not in touch with Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor

It has been over 21 years to Ajay Devgn-starrer Gangaajal (2003) and eight to Jai Gangaajal (2016), the second instalment in Prakash Jha’s cop franchise. Now, the filmmaker believes it’s time to bring another fiery cop’s story to the big screen. Jha reveals that he has penned the third instalment of Gangaajal. “There is a script ready for Gangaajal. It’s tentatively called Dharamkshetra. It’s based on several stories about the police force, society and the dilemma they face with each other. It’s not an extension of Gangaajal.

Instead, it’s about a head constable,” starts the filmmaker. Interestingly, the cop fare is not the only franchise that has captured Jha’s attention at the moment. The director is also working towards turning his successful political drama, Raajneeti (2010), into a franchise. He believes the ensemble drama, which starred Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor, among others, has a story left untold. “The second part is intended to be an extension of the first movie. Though Samar Pratap [Kapoor’s character] has gone abroad, he is there [in this story]. The story’s structure has been worked out.”

So, will the director approach Kapoor to reprise his role in the sequel? Or Devgn for Dharamkshetra, for that matter? “I cannot say anything about repeating the cast,” Jha admits candidly. “There are few [compelling] actors, and they are managed by talent agencies. The actors cannot take the decisions themselves. A decade ago, we could just meet the actor, narrate the story, and convince them to make a decision. Today, you cannot. Actors don’t read the scripts; their assistants and managers do. You have to go through three levels of management to reach the stars.”

Is he not in touch with Devgn or Kapoor? “They are shooting for many projects. I’m not in touch with them, but if there is a project, they will be contacted,” he says.

Mortal Kombat 1 has debuted its first post-launch character Omni-Man from the Robert Kirkman comic book Invincible. NetherRealm Studios dropped the gameplay trailer during the New York Comic Con 2023 event, revealing a set of brutal moves that were pulled straight from the eponymous animated series adaptation on Amazon Prime Video. The villainous character will be available as a standalone fighter in November, accessible to those who bought the Premium Edition of the game or the Kombat Pack DLC separately. Actor J.K. Simmons is also reprising his role and voicing Omni-Man for Mortal Kombat 1.

While the Mortal Kombat series is known for major crossovers, this time, NetherRealm Studios is using multiversal shenanigans to explain the new comic book characters being included in the DLC. Omni-Man seems to have slipped into this new timeline forged by the Fire God Liu Kang and thus, we see the two squaring off in the gameplay trailer. Despite his arrogant demeanour and slow pace, Omni-Man quickly finds his footing through incredible strength, managing to easily toss around opponents using one hand and following it up with a brutal Fatality, where he pins them down and repeatedly punches faces, resulting in a bloodbath — before slamming down and cracking open their skulls. There’s also one where he squeezes Liu Kang’s head until his eyeballs pop out in gory fashion.

Mortal Kombat 1 Review

Revealing his plans to form the Viltrum Empire — the alien planet he’s from — he drags Scorpion onto a subway line. If you’ve seen Invincible, you already know what happens next — Omni-Man uses his opponent’s body as a shield against an incoming train, as its iron bars and torn metal continue cutting chunks off from their body, almost like a grater. Through all of this, Omni-Man’s violent facade never comes off, making this seem like a faithful recreation. The Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer also reveals Tremor, a ninja honing Earth elemental powers, serving as a Kameo (assist) fighter for Omni-Man. He can be seen turning his arms into strong boulders and smashing enemies, or at times, emerging from underneath the Earth’s surface to catch them off guard.

As mentioned before, Omni-Man is included as part of Mortal Kombat 1’s DLC add-on pack, which promises to bring a bunch of other fighters, as well. Following Omni-Man and Tremor’s (Kameo) introduction in November, NetherRealm confirmed that we can expect the necromancy expert Quan Chi and DC Comics’ Peacemaker in Winter 2023/2024, the telekinetic Ermac and the villainous Homelander from The Boys in Spring 2024, and Scorpion’s student Takeda Takahashi in the American Summer of 2024. Some new Kameo fighters are also expected, albeit there’s no release window for them yet. Furthermore, Prime Video also dropped a trailer for Invincible season 2, as lead Mark Grayson/ Invincible (Steven Yeun) struggles to rebuild his life out of fear that he might become as vicious as his father Omni-Man was.

Mortal Kombat 1 is out now on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.

This season, Kitty returns to KISS for her second semester as newly single and ready to start over. Mismatched 3 starts streaming from December 13 on Netflix. The show follows the story of Rishi and Dimple who meet on campus while pursuing a gaming course. Prasar Bharati unveils new streaming platform Waves

India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati entered the field of streaming as it announced its new platform Waves at the ongoing International Film Festival of India, Goa. Adani US indictment: No way to see Adani hand, says Odisha official

BHUBANESWAR: In a recent court filing, the US Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that Adani Green’s internal documents show huge kickbacks were made or committed to Odisha govt officials to influence decisions regarding a power supply agreement.
The SEC complaint read, “According to Adani Green’s records, a payment equal to hundreds of thousands of dollars was paid or promised to govt officials in Odisha to cause Odisha to enter into a power supply agreement with SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) for purchase of 500 MW of power.”
“Consistent with Adani Green’s records, SECI announced its first power supply agreement related to the manufacturing linked projects in July 2021, pursuant to which Grid Corporation of Odisha (Gridco) agreed to buy 500 MW of capacity from SECI,” the complaint said.
As per Gridco’s annual report, during 2022-23 it had executed two PSAs with SECI towards procurement of a total of 400 MW of wind capacity and three power purchase agreements for the procurement of 410 MW of solar capacity to meet future renewable purchase obligation target. In addition, one PSA was executed with SECI in June 2023 for 600 MW of wind power capacity.
While state law minister Prithivirraj Harichadan said agencies will probe the charges, a govt official said Gridco, a bulk power supplier, independently signs PPAs with power producers such as NTPC, NHPC and SECI to meet RPO obligations after approval from Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission. “Gridco as such has no option to know who is the (private) developer at back end of SECI,” official said.
Despite repeated attempts, Gridco MD Trilocan Panda did not respond to phone calls or messages.

Google Pixel 10, Pixel 11 to Offer Improved Camera and Video Features via Upcoming Tensor Chips: Report

Google Pixel 10 is expected arrive next year as the company’s flagship smartphone powered by a next-generation Tensor G5 chipset, and details of the processor recently surfaced online alongside details of its successor. Now, a publication has shared details of new photo and video capabilities likely to arrive on the purported Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series of smartphones, along with new features enabled by generative AI. Meanwhile, a video editing tool that currently requires cloud-based processing might be available as an on-device feature on the Pixel 11.

An Android Authority report citing documents from Google’s G-Chips division states that the successor to the Pixel 9 will be equipped with a Tensor G5 chipset that will enable support for HDR video recording at 4K/ 60fps — a feature that available on most flagship phones. This is an upgrade over current Pixel phones that only support recording at 4K/ 30fps.

Google’s machine learning technology improvements will also enable support for 100x hybrid zoom support while capturing images and video on the Pixel 11, which is expected to arrive in 2026 with a Tensor G6 chip, according to the publication, which also spotted references to a “next-gen” telephoto camera.

Another camera feature that is reportedly in development for the Pixel 11 is support for a new on-device feature called “Ultra Low Light video” that could improve lighting in videos — Google previously introduced a similar feature called “Night Sight Video With Video Boost” brightens and upscales videos, but it requires the recordings to be uploaded to the cloud.

The Cinematic Blur feature is also said to include support for 4K/ 30fps video recording, alongside a new feature called “video relight” — the company will use its next-generation Tensor G6 chip to enable these features, according to the report.

The company is also working on new generative AI features that will be enabled by the upcoming Tensor G5 chip, and the publication speculates that upcoming handsets will have access to a “Video Generative ML” feature that will let users edit their videos using AI. The report also states that Google’s next mobile chipset will be able to run Stable Diffusion-based models on the handset, which could result in faster image generation compared to existing Pixel phones.

Other features that could make their way to Google’s handsets include a “Speak to Tweak” feature that might allow users to edit media using voice commands, while “Sketch to Image” might allow users to draw something to generate an image using AI — a feature that will eventually be supported by eligible iPhone models with Apple Intelligence.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently attended the screening of the film at the ongoing 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

After watching the film on Thursday, Sawant sent best wishes to Ektaa R Kapoor and the whole team of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ via a phone call falicitated by producer Mahaveer Jain.

“I really liked the film…it’s extremely good. You have presented the film in a proper manner. Huge congratulations,” CM said yesterday while speaking with Ektaa Kapoor.

The Goa Chief Minister futher said he is considering giving the film a tax-free status in the State.

“After watching this movie, I am considering making it tax-free in Goa; we will implement this decision in a few days. Very few filmmakers focus on real facts, and this film is based on a true incident. I congratulate the producer and actors for their commendable work,” he told ANI.

The film also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles.

HP Rebrands Consumer and Commercial PC Portfolio, Unveils New Logo for AI PCs

HP announced Monday it was rebranding its consumer and commercial PC portfolios in a bid to streamline its product offerings. Under the rebranding initiative, HP’s consumer PC lineup will now come with a single prefix, “Omni,” followed by a signifier representing the product category. All laptops will carry the “OmniBook” moniker, while all-in-one desktops will take on the “OmniStudio” branding. Traditional desktops, on the other hand, will be called “OmniDesk.” HP also announced the evolution of its commercial PC brands to HP EliteBook and HP ProBook.

While the company’s consumer laptops will take on the “OmniBook” prefix, its gaming laptops will continue to launch under the existing Omen brand, HP confirmed in a press release.

In addition to the consumer portfolio, HP confirmed that it was streamlining the naming conventions for its commercial PC brands, HP EliteBook and HP ProBook, to achieve a “more cohesive and consistent portfolio.”

Alongside the branding changes, each HP device will now include a number in its branding to establish hierarchy of products. Lower-end products in the portfolio will begin with the number ‘2′ and will go up till ‘10′, represented by an “X”. HP said that consumer PCs will carry odd numbering (3, 5, 7), while commercial PCs will come with even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8) in their names.

“The numbering system will help customers quickly understand the hierarchy of the portfolio, with higher numbers indicating increased performance and advanced features,” HP said.

HP’s high-end premium offerings, on the other hand, will come with the “Ultra” moniker instead of a number. Additionally, the company will also utilise descriptive modifiers to establish distinction between different form factors, such as “Fold” for dual screens and “Flip” for convertible PCs.

The company also introduced a new logo for its AI PCs. The HP AI Helix logo will be present on the company’s AI-powered PCs, which will come with features such as HP AI Companion and Poly Camera Pro. The company also said its AI PCs will be equipped with protection against AI-generated threats.
