The Windows handheld console race is starting to heat up in India. While there was technically no real market for handheld consoles even a year ago, we now have options from big players such as Asus, MSI, and Lenovo. Yes, you can get your hands on other handheld consoles online, like the Steam Deck OLED or Ayaneo, but these aren’t available officially. You can only buy the Asus ROG Ally or the MSI Claw A1M in India without worrying about service and spares.

Now, you can also get your hands on the Lenovo Legion Go. It’s the latest Windows handheld console to hit the Indian market and offers better features than the Asus and the MSI. Are these better features enough for you to buy the Legion Go? Can you play AAA titles? How long does the battery last? Is it more portable than a laptop? After spending about a week trying out the Legion Go, here’s what I think.

Lenovo Legion Go price in India

The Lenovo Legion Go will be available in India starting July 1 for Rs. 89,990. You can only have it in a Shadow Black colour option, and only one variant (512GB SSD) is currently available in India. Luckily, the storage is upgradeable.

The carrying case is large and doesn’t accommodate the charger

Lenovo provides a nice big carry case for the Legion Go, a 65W charger (you can’t place it inside the carrying case), and a controller base.

Lenovo Legion Go Review: Design and display

The Legion Go is big and heavy (854g) for a handheld. Lenovo has tried to cram all kinds of features and controls onto the device. You get a nice big screen up front protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and controllers on either side of it. Thanks to the way the handheld is designed, you can use it in different ways. You could use it as a traditional handheld with the controllers attached. If you find it too heavy, which you will do after about half an hour of using it, you can detach the controllers, pop out the kickstand at the back and continue playing.

The Legion Go’s kickstand is a multi-level adjustable

Detachable controllers are something you’ll not find in the competition, and I’m thankful Lenovo thought of this. I’ll talk more about the controllers in a bit.

The back houses the intake grille with the exhaust port at the top. You’ll also find the Power button, a 3.5mm headphone port, a microSD card slot, a USB Type-C port, volume buttons, and dual speakers at the top.

Both USB Type-C ports support Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4

The bottom of the Legion Go has another USB Type-C port. The good thing about the handheld is that both USB Type-C ports are USB 4.0 and support Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4. You can connect an eGPU or even a monitor and turn it into a desktop PC.

Let’s talk about that big display. The Legion Go has the largest display in the segment. It gets an 8.8-inch QHD+ IPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of brightness. The screen is plenty bright to play indoors. The display is vibrant, provides a great touch response rate, and is big enough to see what you’re doing on Windows 11. Lenovo claims the panel also meets 97 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Gaming is smooth and enjoyable on the Legion Go, thanks to the 144Hz refresh rate. The glass covering the display is glossy and catches fingerprints easily.

Talking about fingerprints, the soft matte finish of the Legion Go also attracts fingerprints and oil smudges. While cleaning the display is easy, getting rid of all the smudges on the body is a task.

Lenovo Legion Go Review: Controllers

As I mentioned in the beginning, Lenovo has tried to cram a lot of controls on the Legion Go. It can be a bit too much at times, but it’s also nice to have in some rare cases. You get hall-effect joysticks on the controllers, which is great for gaming. Both the controllers are also detachable, which is something I found very useful when playing for more than half an hour. A push of a button and a slide-down action lets you detach the controllers, but it’s harder than it sounds.

Detaching the controllers isn’t super easy, but re-attaching them is

The left controller has the Legion Space key at the top right corner, the L/S joystick with click, a D-pad, and the Menu and View buttons at the bottom. I didn’t find the bottom placement of the Menu and View buttons very useful, as they are difficult to reach in some games. Around the back and the top, you’ll find more buttons, such as the trigger, LB, and Y1 and Y2, that you can assign to various actions.

The right controller has a Quick settings button at the top left corner, the R/S click joystick, A/B/X/Y keys, and a small trackpad that can double as a mouse. It also has the right trigger at the top, M1 and M2 keys on the side, another button at the top, and a scroll wheel, M3 and Y1 keys at the back.

There’s plenty of buttons on the controllers, but it might be too much

The right controller also has a cool little secret. You’ll find a button at the bottom that says FPS mode. Toggling this will let you use the controller as a vertical mouse. All you have to do is detach the controller, mount it on the included controller base, toggle FPS mode, and start shooting the place up (in-game, obviously). However, I only used the controller in FPS mode once, as it’s much easier to use as a regular controller.

The FPS mode is not something you’d use often

The controllers have a nice feel to them and offer a good grip. You do end up pressing some of the buttons accidentally when lifting up the Legion Go, but luckily, these buttons don’t do anything outside of a game.

Lenovo Legion Go Review: Specifications and software

Specifications on the Legion Go are quite similar to those of the Asus ROG Ally. You get an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme CPU with AMD Radeon RDNA 3 graphics, 16GB LPDDR5x-7500 RAM, and up to 1TB M.2 2242 SSD storage. The RAM isn’t upgradable, but you can install an M.2 2242 drive to add more storage. You also get Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connectivity.

The Legion Go houses a 49.2 Whr battery, with the controllers housing 900mAh batteries each.

The Legion Space software needs some polishing, but it is an easy way to change things on the handheld

Moving on to software, the handheld runs Windows 11 Home out of the box. You also get the Legion Space software, which lets you change the performance modes, customise other device settings, and act as a central hub for all your games. You can also use the Quick settings button on the right controller to change resolution and power modes, change refresh rate, and adjust all kinds of system settings.

I’ll be honest: Windows 11 isn’t designed for handheld PCs. Microsoft needs to do something about it, or OEMs need to come up with their custom OS for handhelds. However, the 8.8-inch display on the Legion Go did make the Windows experience less frustrating.

Lenovo Legion Go Review: Performance

Now, let’s look at how the Legion Go performs in games. While you can play AAA titles on the handheld, don’t expect high frame rates and Ultra graphics. It still packs in a mobile chipset that can’t offer that kind of performance. You get three power modes on the Legion Go, each offering a different TDP. In custom mode, you can get up to 30W TDP from the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme, and this is where you’ll find the best frame rates in games. You also get a Quiet, Balanced, and Performance mode. I ran the device in performance mode while playing games, and it delivered 20W of TDP.

You get three preset modes and custom modes with a max TDP of 30W

I ran a couple of benchmarks and played several games, such as Hogwarts Legacy, Far Cry 6, Snowrunner, and a couple of other indie titles. With games like Hogwarts Legacy and Far Cry 6, I had to lower the refresh rate and set the resolution to 1080p or lower to achieve smooth gameplay. I got around 50 to 55 fps in Hogwarts Legacy with low graphics and about the same in Far Cry 6 at high.

In benchmarks such as PCMark 10, the Legion Go scored 5,907 points, whereas, in 3DMark, the handheld managed a score of 3042 in the Time Spy benchmark test. Overall, the Lenovo console offers good gaming performance.

Playing AAA titles is not as much fun as playing less demanding games

When it comes to cooling, the Legion Go does a good job of keeping the heat away from your hands. It gets a single fan setup, which gets loud enough to drown out the dual speakers as they’re placed near the fan.

Lenovo Legion Go Review: Battery life

The battery life on the Legion Go is nothing great. If you’re playing AAA titles, you can expect anywhere from 1 to 2 hours of continuous playback. Lighter games and indie titles will let you push the battery life to about 3 hours. The 49.2 Whr battery just isn’t big enough for long hours of gaming. I also noticed that the drop from 20 percent to 5 percent is rather quick. The sleep function is non-existent. I was constantly woken up at night with the device randomly turning on with the fan spinning at full blast. But that’s most likely a Windows problem, not Lenovo.

You can get more battery life if you play games at a lower resolution with low settings

As for charging, it took me about one and a half hours to fully charge the Legion Go from zero, and a 10-minute charge gave the handheld about 25 percent battery, which isn’t really enough to play games.

Lenovo Legion Go Review: Verdict

The Lenovo Legion Go’s only two official competitors in the Indian market are the Asus ROG Ally and the MSI Claw. As we saw in our Asus ROG Ally review, the Legion Go performs similarly in both gaming and other scenarios. It’s only slightly better when it comes to higher fps in games. We’ve not tried the MSI Claw, but I don’t expect it to perform better than the Lenovo.

Lenovo’s Legion Go shines thanks to its brilliant display and good performance despite offering too many buttons on its controllers. It’s also very large, and even larger when you place it inside its case. You’d need a whole backpack to carry the thing around. You can instead use that backpack to carry a decent-spec gaming laptop, which should be easily available at Rs. 89,990.

The Legion Go is great if you want a handheld Windows PC that is mostly used at home. If it were me, I’d wait for the next iteration. If you’ve got the money, go for it, as it’s a fun gadget. Is it the best handheld console? No. But it certainly is the best Windows handheld currently available in India, as there’s not a lot of competition at the moment.

Google’s AI Overviews will reportedly be updated with feature improvements that allow users to dive deeper into a topic. As per the report, Google is experimenting with a new feature for its artificial intelligence (AI) search summary feature. With this, users can highlight a portion of text shown in AI Overviews and run a secondary AI search. This feature is currently under development, and it is not known when it will be rolled out to all users. It was spotted in the latest beta version of the Google app.

How Google Could Expand Its AI Overviews Feature 

Android Authority spotted a new AI Overviews feature on Google app beta version 15.45.33 that allows users to delve further into AI-generated summaries. The feature was discovered in collaboration with AssembleDebug, an account that posts new features spotted on various apps and the Android operating system. 

AI Overviews typically allow users to run an AI search on most searched queries on Google Search. When users run a search query, AI Overviews finds relevant information by crawling various websites to provide a quick summary of the query.

With the new feature, users can select specific text in the AI Overviews and view another AI-powered summary, according to the publication. This means users can ask the AI to provide a deeper understanding of the topic, based on its previous replies. However, the report highlights that users will not be able to highlight just about any text to trigger another AI Overviews query.

As per the description, it appears that the feature is only available when users select text that requires further explanation of the topic. Additionally, it is reportedly not possible to run a second or further level of AI search into the topic currently. So, users cannot infinitely dive into the topic by constantly selecting text in the previous AI summary.

Notably, as per the publication, the second level of AI Overviews will be displayed underneath the first level of AI summaries. Since this feature is currently under development, it is unclear how long it might take before it is made available to the public.

Dell has refreshed some of its XPS laptops ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 that’s scheduled to be held from January 9 to January 12. The Dell XPS 13, XPS 14, and XPS 16 laptops now come with Intel Core Ultra processors that are equipped with Intel AI Boost Neural Processing Unit (NPU). These NPUs are said to increase support for inbuilt AI-backed features. The XPS 14 and XPS 16 are equipped with a Windows Hello-compliant fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. These laptops are pre-installed with Windows 11 and support Microsoft-backed AI chatbot Copilot. The models will soon be available in the US and Canada.

Dell XPS 13, XPS 14, XPS 16 price

In a blog post, Dell confirmed that the XPS 13 will start at $1,299.99 (roughly Rs. 1,08,200), while the XPS 14 and XPS 16 will start at $1,699.99 (roughly Rs. 1,41,500) and $1,899.99 (roughly Rs. 1,58,100), respectively. The models are offered in Graphite and Platinum colour options. The availability of these laptops is expected to be announced at the upcoming CES 2024.

Dell XPS 13 specifications

The Dell XPS 13 is offered with either a 13.4-inch full-HD+ (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) InfinityEdge non-touch display or a 13.4-inch QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) InfinityEdge touch display, with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and peak brightness level of 500 nits. It is also available in a 13.4-inch 3K+ (2,880 x 1,800 pixels) InfinityEdge touch display option with a refresh rate of up to 60Hz.

Users will be able to configure this model with either Intel Core Ultra 5 Processor 125H, Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 155H, or Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 165H paired with Intel Arc graphics, up to 64GB of LPDDR5X dual channel RAM, and up to 4TB of PCIe 4 SSD. The laptop carries a 55Wh battery with a 60W AC adapter and ExpressCharge 1.0 support.

Dell XPS 14 specifications

Next up, the Dell XPS 14 gets a 14.5-inch full-HD+ (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) InfinityEdge non-touch screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a 14.5-inch 3K+ (3,200 x 2,000 pixels) InfinityEdge touch-enabled panel option. The model comes in variants of either an Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 155H or an Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 165H paired with Intel Arc Graphics or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU. It supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5X dual channel RAM and up to 4TB PCIe 4 SSD. It is backed by a 69.5Wh battery with support for 60W charging for the Intel graphics variant and 100W charging for the Nvidia GPU option.

Dell XPS 16 specifications

Finally, the Dell XPS 16 is available in options of a 16.3-inch full-HD+ (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) InfinityEdge non-touch panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a 16.3-inch 4K+ (3,840 x 2,400 pixels) InfinityEdge touch display with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. The CPU variants offered with this model are – Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 155H, Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 165H, and Intel Core Ultra 9. The chipsets can be paired with an Intel Arc Graphics, a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050, a GeForce RTX 4060, or a GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. The laptop supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5X dual channel RAM and up to 4TB PCIe 4 SSD. It packs a 99.5Wh battery with 130W charging support.

Xiaomi 14 was unveiled in China in November 2023 and launched in India in May this year. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and runs on Android 14-based HyperOS out-of-the-box. Previously, the company confirmed that the Android 15-based HyperOS 2.0 will roll out to the Xiaomi 14 series phones. However, a report now suggests that a stable version of the HyperOS 1.1 based on Android 15 has started rolling out to Xiaomi 14 users in select regions.

Xiaomi 14 Android 15-Based HyperOS 1.1 Stable Update

According to a STechGuide report, Xiaomi 14 users in the EEA (European Economic Area) and other global regions have started receiving the stable update of the Android 15-based HyperOS 1.1. For European users, it is reportedly the 125MB OS1.1.4.0.VNCEUXM version, while users in certain other global regions are getting the 127MB OS1.1.3.0.VNCMIXM build. Although this version isn’t the latest HyperOS 2.0, it still offers several updates and provides a stable Android 15 experience for Xiaomi 14 users. 

Notably, Xiaomi introduced the HyperOS 2.0 update based on Android 15 in October alongside the Xiaomi 15 series and Pad 7 lineup. It is said to include several AI-backed features and is claimed to offer performance, graphics, network, and safety enhancements to the devices.

Xiaomi 14 Android 15-Based HyperOS 1.1 Changelog

One of the key improvements that the stable HyperOS 1.1 for Xiaomi 14 reportedly brings is the Home Screen appearance. Alongside increased Home Screen stability, there is no more excess space at the top of the layout and folder icons are now displayed properly.

According to the report, the Recents menu and Lock Screen are more stable with this update with no flickers while modifying Always-on Display settings. The Recents menu app cards reportedly reorder smoothly now, without shaking and screenshots in certain apps no longer appear black.

The Android 15-based HyperOS 2.0 is expected to arrive later this month for the Xiaomi 14 series, Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, Xiaomi Mix Flip, and Redmi K70 lineup. 

Infinix ZeroBook Ultra was launched in India on Saturday. The new laptop comes with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and is equipped with up to Intel Core Ultra 9 processors. The Infinix ZeroBook Ultra runs on Windows 11 Home out-of-the-box and features a 15.6-inch full-HD+ IPS display. It packs 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and is backed by a 70Whr battery that can be charged at 100W over a USB Type-C port.

Infinix ZeroBook Ultra price in India

Infinix ZeroBook Ultra price in India starts at Rs. 59,990 for the model with a Core Ultra 5 processor. The Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 9 variants are priced at Rs. 69,990 and Rs. 84,990, respectively. It will be available for purchase via Flipkart on July 10.

Flipkart is offering up to Rs. 2,000 off on purchases made using HDFC bank cards. Buyers can avail of up to Rs. 28,000 exchange discount as well. EMI options start at Rs. 2,813 per month.

Infinix ZeroBook Ultra specifications

The Infinix ZeroBook Ultra runs on Windows 11 Home and features a 15.6-inch full-HD (1,080×1,920 pixels) IPS display with 400 nits of peak brightness and 100 percent sRGB colour gamut coverage. The screen has a 178-degree viewing angle. It is powered by up to Intel Core Ultra 9 processors with Intel Arc graphics. The CPU is paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM. This processor is equipped with Intel AI Boost Neural Processing Units (NPU) for performing AI-based tasks. The laptop is claimed to deliver 60fps for gaming. 

For thermal management, the Infinix ZeroBook Ultra uses an ICE Storm 2.0 cooling system. It features two USB 3.0 ports, two USB Type-C ports, an SD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack and an HDMI 1.4 port. The laptop offers Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.

The laptop is equipped with a full-HD webcam for video calls. This camera provides AI-based BeautyCam enhancements with the help of the Mi-Pi protocol. It has two microphones and includes dual 2W microphones with DTS audio processing. Further, it has a backlit chiclet keyboard.

The Infinix ZeroBook Ultra houses a 70Wh battery that offers fast charging support using 100W adapter. The battery is claimed to deliver up to 13 hours of 1080p video playback or up to 10 hours of web browsing. It has a 16.9mm thick body. 

Hyundai is planning to introduce the much-awaited electric variant of the Creta in India soon. There have been multiple spy shots and leaks that reveals the launch timeline of the electric vehicle. However, company’s COO has finally revealed the launch timeline of the car. As per reports, the Hyundai Creta EV will be announced in the early 2025.

As per multiple reports, Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hyundai India, has confirmed that the vehicle will be introduced in January 2025. He revealed this information during a recent investor meeting. This could also mean that the brand might unveil the car at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, which will kickstart from January 17th. With this, let’s take a closer look at the leaked information about the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV:

Design and Interiors 

As per various spy shots, the electric SUV might share its core design elements with the petrol-powered Creta facelift, which was unveiled earlier this year. The vehicle might retain the connected LED DRL setup and similar headlight design. The vehicle might also come equipped with some EV-specific modifications, which could include a closed-off front grille and redesigned bumpers. The rear section of the car might sport a light bar connecting the tail lamps. Creta EV is also reported to feature 17-inch aerodynamic wheels.

Road testing spy shots also revealed a cabin layout mirroring the current Creta. The EV variant might also feature a dual 10.25-inch displays in an integrated setup. The car might also come loaded with a new three-spoke steering wheel and a repositioned drive selector behind it, which could be similar to the placement seen in the Ioniq 5. 

Features and Safety

The electric SUV is expected to be equipped with dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. On the safety front, company might add six airbags as a standard, alongside electronic stability control and a 360-degree camera system. The car might also feature Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which could include automatic emergency braking, lane assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Powertrain Details

While specific details about the battery configuration remain undisclosed by Hyundai, the electric SUV is expected to offer multiple battery options with a single motor setup. The driving range is anticipated to exceed 400 kilometres on a single charge.

With an expected starting price of Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Creta EV will compete against the MG ZS EV, the upcoming Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti eVX, while offering an alternative to the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 in the electric SUV segment.
